Lotro guide Join the Torment of the Worgen - The New Playable Class In Warcraft Cataclysm.

Creeping just outside of Darkshire, I had been set a quest to kill the Worgen in the Woods by a member of the night watch (No - not Sam Vimes, that would have been cool though). Duskwood was a dark scary area. The first I had come across after the lightness of Elwynn Forest, Westfall and Redridge
One of the watchers would set you Worgen quests, to kill increasingly tougher beasts. Little did I know I was killing real Werewolves, a race tormented by the curse. Maybe I would have cut them a break if I'd have known. But then again probably not.
So from patch 4.0 and Cataclysm onwards, you will be able to play Worgen. They become an Alliance race. Me? I'm going to re-roll a team of Worgen the minute the patch hits. The details we know so far look great.
The number of classes each race can play has increased steadily, and will grow further with Cataclysm. The Worgen start off with a good selection.
Druid, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock and Warrior and of course, you could roll a Death Knight if you meet the criteria.
Imagine the shape combinations of a Worgen Druid? That's some options you'd have.
The playable Worgen's are not just a copy of the existing character model. It has been totally revamped by Blizzard. A very good job they have done as well.
Of course the Worgen will have racial traits.
Two Forms - A cosmetic change. Changing from Human to Worgen form. On entering combat the player will revert to Worgen. Hopefully very quickly. The animation that combines speed with a pleasing transformation is something I am looking forward to seeing.
Flayer - An as yet undecided boost to skinning speed and a 15 point buff to skinning skill. This makes sense
Aberration - A 15% reduction in duration for all curses and movement impairing effects. This could make a very good anti-debuff class. (Have I just made that word up?)
Viciousness - Another passive ability that increases damage done by Worgen's by 1%. This is a prime skill. DPS classes in end game instances and PvP, and all classes during the levelling process will benefit from this
Darkflight - A 70% speed increase for 6 seconds on activation. We need to know more about this to see if it will be of greatest benefit to Rogues. With Viciousness and Aberration, this could mean an almost tailor made Rogue race. But the activation of this perk and its cooldown will decide whether this is really the case or not. I suspect it probably is.
Worgen start in Gilneas near Silverpine Forest. A whole new starting area. Expect it to be packed with people trying out this great new class. I'm certainly going to be one of them.
