Metal Gear Solid 4

, ,

Dude! My first ever Sony PlayStation 3 experience with a gorgeous game! I am not a professional game reviewer, but I like games. This one was really awesome!

Metal Gear Solid 4 - IMO, is a "MUST HAVE" for all PS3 gamers. My first PS3 experience on a Sony Bravia 2 Engine, Full-HD LCD TV and I was simply amazed; game performance was perfect. As I said, I am not a professional game analyst/reviewer, but these are my own observations:
Bad stuff
  • No anti-aliasing (I don't know whether PS3 supports this, or whether it supports it with 1080p full-hd)
  • Amateurish "bokeh" (but it's still there, so pretty successful. was that "texture-copy"?)
  • Sometimes, extended story line (if you watch everything like myself, you may waste your time)
  • Somewhat easy AI (even with moderate difficulty)
  • Smoking reference (please... not good!)
  • More than enough Apple "stuff"? (as an Apple Mac Pro user, I didn't like it)
  • The ending... (which took almost 2 hours to see that it actually, really ended...)

Good stuff
(dude, this list is actually too long)
  • Hollywood caliber story line
  • Characters and voice actors are more than brilliant!
  • 15 min. play, 1 hour clip, very nice!
  • Mind boggling choreography!
  • Thrilling scenes and opponents
  • Easy and very fluent gameplay
  • Nice set of weapons
  • My first real Dolby surround game experience (and this was shocking for me)
  • Long enough to get the taste of it.
  • Very "Japanese"
  • Criticizes war and war economy
  • The ending... (it took long but I think it worths to watch every frame of the ending)

(No comment on the ending... I think everybody should watch it; I didn't miss any frame of the game - all cutscenes, all mission briefings, all ending, cast, post-cast stuff...)

The game takes us "not so distant future"... It's about the "military-industrial-complex" that almost took over the world. Of course, our heroes help to save the planet. My recommendation is to read the guide coming with the disc or you may waste your time, like I did, to learn how stuff works.
