Today I would like to show you something completely different. I mean you all know me as a so-so KDEsque graphic artist who does very little to no coding at all (except for web scripting).
But a great thing just happened - I got a Google phone
Since the thing it "open source" and all, I really wanted to know how it works and I installed me Eclipse and Android SDK to pick inside. Well I found that I could understand what was happening in those helpful examples they provided. Yes; somehow my crippled artsy brain was able to get it So I started to look for a good app to start with, and by golly found it!
It's a PlaneKDE RSS reader especially tailored for our planet on small android screen. The funny thing is that it took me just 2 weeks to get to the point where it actually does almost everything I want, and please do take into account that I never did Java before (or any other high end, non scripted language for that matter).
To tell you the truth I'm quite amazed myself
Here are a couple of screenshots:
There of course is still a lot to do there, but the main idea is implemented, and *gasp* working
You can find the source in GIT right here: git://gitorious.org/plnetoid/plnetoid.git (thanks Emil! I could have never done it without you)
Feedback and suggestions are welcome!
