Final Curtain or Shower Curtain?

Having only finished watching yet one more talent show, Debbie asked her mum "how can I become a singer Mum? She had done what most kids do today; she'd confused the opportunity to sing with becoming a singer. The two are not necessarily exactly the same.
If you are blessed having a reasonable voice, one that will hold a note or a tune, then the chances are you are already a singer. What you do with that gift is up to you. Even more important what you would like to do is more to the point.
If, just like young Debbie, you want to be the next Beyonce or Adele then be prepared for a lot of hard work, and lots of disappointments. Simply a very few make it to the top, and that is with a lot of talent and even more luck. You will need to practice morning, noon and night, protect your voice, and attend every audition going.
One can increase their chances of success on how to become a famous singer by having singing lessons from a fully qualified singing coach. Hopefully they'll be honest and tell you how good, or bad, you really are. They will help you enhance your voice, and advise the most effective repertoire for your given range. Even then the chances of success are, at best, minimal.
If you're ready to lower your sights, but still crave the limelight then there's the musical theater. How many of us have delighted watching productions such as Mamma Mia, Les Miserable or Phantom of the Opera. Every single member of the cast is a singer; most will have started in the chorus line. This is an excellent way of honing your craft. Most of the West End's leading men and women, who are household names today, started their careers in this way. Always remember they may well have attended dozens of auditions before striking it lucky. It is not an easy path, but the exhilaration of getting a part can't be beaten.
If fame and fortune isn't what you are searching for, then there are many local churches, choirs and societies searching for individuals who can sing. You can see singing is something that comes from within. It should bring joy towards the singer and hopefully the listener. Debbie asked her mum “how to become a singer” but that is not really what she meant could it be? Otherwise she could do what many of us do - she could take a shower!
