Where Do We Go From Here?

Reflection on new technology and how it will shape our future.

My new career in Web Marketing

, ,

It has been quite a lot of fun working for Opera, but now it's all over and done with. Again, it is time for me to strike out on my own as an entrepreneur. This seems to be the way that I've lived most of my life, and I'm eager to return to self-employment and seek new opportunities.

So what exactly am I up to now?

Power Cables. All kinds of cords and wires, as a matter of fact. I have created a new online store that specifically sells colored power and network cables.

Why cables? For one, it is a simple product that I am able to sell with little personal investment and risk. It was just a matter of setting up the right kinds of deals with suppliers -- at least initially. Second, it is a product that I am fairly familiar with and I also understand my target market because of my experience. (This comprises mainly network technicians and systems administrators who are setting up datacenters and equipment racks and such).

Setting up an e-commerce site isn't too hard (although it can be a fair amount of work!), but the real challenge ahead of me lies in marketing my site. In order for me to generate sales, I need to get a lot of page views... and to get page views I have to spread the word and get my search engine ranking performing well.

It will certainly be a challenge for me. There is so much to be done!

So if you know anyone who is in the market for colored power and network cables in varying lengths, just send them to the Color Cable Company website!
