I live next to a relatively large catholic church and from my window I have a nice view on the back of the church and its roofs. A few days back I discovered that some men were doing some maintenance on the roofs, there was a ladder on the roof and I saw a man standing in the gutter, which is quite high. I think it would compare to six or seven floors with a normal apartment building, so you don't want to fall down from there!

Apparently it made such an impression, because that night I had a dream about it. I was watching out of my window and I saw a few man standing in the gutter of the same church. They were clearly talking big about how fearless they were. Then, to show off, one of the guys leaned forward, ...and guess what, he felled down! In my dream I tried to call the emergency services, but I didn't get through. Then all kind of weird things happened, I ran out of the house to try and do something, but all the roads were closed down by the police. I ran around disorientated and suddenly saw a huge fire in a house one block away. So again I tried to call the emergency service, I got through, but I got some indecent man on the line who was not willing to do anything at all. Feeling helpless, I went home and there someone told me the man who fall down did survive! So the weird dream ended with some good news after all.

Today I spotted the men on the roof again, so I took my change and took some pictures out of my window.

Yes, it is quite high, on this picture you can't see the ground. The house on the right has another high floor below what you see, to give you some idea of the hight. The guys weren't attached to a rope, they probably should however...

So when this man was bending over like this I had this flashback to my dream... Luckily he didn't fall!

Maybe you think after dreaming about falling down from that church I would never go up there like that. But in fact, I would love to! I think it really nice to be working on such a big and old building. Sitting on the rooftop of a church overlooking the entire city, that would be great if you ask me!

I just hope those men are wise and are careful so no one will fall down. If they do fall, I guess it would be gods will. But since I don't believe in that I think it would be just a goddamn shame they weren't more careful and used a safety rope!
