School Reunion Etiquette Tips for Everyone

Pressure for attending your high school or even college reunion can be dreadful, but it can be a highly rewarding experience. Before heading to that old Alma Matter, you should keep proper etiquette to ensure that you have the time of your life when reuniting with former classmates. Consider these tips before heading back to school:

The You of Today is Who Matters
It does not matter who you were in high school or college. Even if you were out-casted or ignored, you are a different person today and who you are today will matter much more to former classmates than who you used to be.

Get Out Of the Comfort Zone
High school and college are all about comfort zones. Most individuals who attend their school reunions stay in those comfort zones rather than branching out. School reunions are a time to step out of that comfort zone, such as dancing, even though you never danced at high school events before.

Show Respect
During high school and college there is a lot of peer pressure and cliques. Once everyone grows up, the need to disrespect or pick on groups is over. Remember that you are an adult; therefore, act like one at your school reunion. Treat others the way you would like to be treated, even those who disrespected you while in school.

Put No One Down
Never show disrespect of surprise when you find out where other students have ended up. You should always stay humble and respectful towards others, even if you are surely the more accomplished after school. Never make someone feel less than you are because of what they make or do, showcase accomplishments but be respectful and tasteful.

Enjoy the Experience
A school reunion brings on a mix of emotions, but the biggest emotion you should feel is joy. Enjoy the fact you are meeting with past peers, enjoying their company and seeing where everyone has gone. Relive the events from your school years, remember the past and enjoy where you are today. Never dread the school reunion experience; instead, embrace it.

It is also amazing to see old teachers and professors of years past, where they are and how they are doing. It is a rewarding thing for them to see former students as well, and how far they have come. High school reunions are a rewarding experience that everyone should go back and enjoy. This is a time to reflect and get to know each other once again. Many years have passed and in a way it can be like meeting each other for the first time. Enjoy your school reunion and have fun.
