I stepped over the CG modules theory for now and started studying characters. Characters are things you can actually calculate, you can do something with, and best of all: have some beautiful properties. A character is a property of a matrix: the sum of the elements on the diagonal of the matrix. Since group elements can be represented by matrices, the character of a group element is the trace of it's group matrix.
