sensing nature; knowing nature
Created on Thursday, 4. May 2006.
During April /may holidays I conduct a workshop for the children of Aruvacode called ‘Sensing Nature; Knowing Nature’.We started this in 2002. About 50 to 70 children have been attending the w/s and usually 5 to 6 older girls of age (13 to 16 guids the workshop.
The idea is to enable the children to observe nature more closely. Village children are very good at observing the life around them. Most of the children know all the birds in the vicinity; they know how to make the cries of birds etc. I think I’ am adding bit more detail to this. For example if they are told about dry leaves surely several variations of brown color will come to their mind. Because they collect about 25 dry leaves and paste them according to light to dark and then they also mix and make the color. They repeat this with green leaves other things from nature.
