Mindblower: Gravity

One theory is that the sphere will continue to fall towards the center of the earth until it rests there. According to Newton’s law of universal gravitation that is likely to happen as the law states that two point masses will attract each other toward their centers and the force will be proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square distance between them.
However, in this scenario the earth does not have a true center and in real life the earth is not a perfect sphere. That is why gravitational acceleration is different at the equator compared to at the poles. So the question is what would happen to the sphere, will it rest at the “center” or will it go brainsick?
