USAID/Nigeria in Abuja is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Senior Technical Advisor for Prevention in the HIV/AIDS& Tuberculosis Office. The Senior Technical Advisor for Prevention serves as the chief HIV/AIDS prevention technical advisor on the HIV/AIDS/TB Team, and as the Prevention Technical Unit Lead. The Advisor will be recognized HIV/AIDS prevention subject matter expert and will perform the full range of consultative, advisory, program planning, financial management, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation duties.

Further, the Advisor is responsible for providing direction, management, technical assistance and oversight to a $40 million portfolio of HIV/AIDS prevention activities. The Advisor also provides first-line supervisory responsibility over as many as six (6) professionals and one (1)administrative/clerical subordinate.
Salary


N6,608,675.00 per annum (Starting basic salary on FSN-12 Position Grade)

NOTE: In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local
Compensation Plan.
Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Advisor for Prevention serves as the chief HIV/AIDS prevention technical advisor on the HIV/AIDS/TB Team, and as the Prevention Technical Unit Lead.
The Advisor will be a recognized HIV/AIDS prevention subject matter expert and will perform the full range of consultative, advisory, program planning, financial management, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation duties.
The Advisor is responsible for providing direction, management, technical assistance and oversight to a $40 million portfolio of HIV/AIDS prevention activities.
The Advisor also provides first-line supervisory responsibility over as many as six 6 professionals and one 1 administrative/clerical subordinate.
Technical Leadership and Expertise, and Staff Supervision.
Provide technical leadership on HIV/AIDs prevention issues to the USAID Mission and the broader USG Prevention TWG.

Supervise and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of prevention professionals to support professional development, including technical expertise and leadership skills.
Play a leadership role in the interagency Prevention TWG, developing multi-sectoral programming and providing technical guidance and direction.
Provide technical and program assistance (induding drafting briefing papers, cables and memos for information and action) for HIVjAIDS prevention activities.
Coordinate dissemination of lessons learned among all HIV/AIDS stakeholders, lncluding the USG, other development partners and the GON at national and sub-national levels.
Develop documents related to the assigned area of responsibility.
Develop and/or maintain linkages among USAID’s prevention activities with other USG-funded activities, with a focus on strengthening multi-sectoral programming.
Provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of indigenous organizations (C50s/CBOs) to respond to the human resource shortage in Nigeria and ensure the sustainability of U5G and other donor efforts.

Strengthen collaboration with other donors, particularly the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TS and Malaria (GFATM), to reduce funding overlaps, strengthen technical collaboration, provide technical assistance and enhance the long-term sustainability of prevention program activities.
Provide technical assistance to ensure program investments are consistent with international norms and standards and are synergistic with other investments made by the USG and partnering agencies.
Provide technical support on the development and implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention guidelines, interventions and programs.
Monitor current public health literature, reports, international guidelines and standards and best practices in HIV/AIDS prevention.
Provide recommendations in developing innovative approaches to designing, implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS prevention programs in Nigeria.
