Eight Eagle Scouts in Eatonville

Eagle Scout - the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program division of the Boy Scouts of America. Since it was first awarded in 1912, the rank of Eagle Scout has been earned by more than two million young men. The title of Eagle Scout is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.
On Saturday, May 5, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in EatonvilleFlorida.us was acknowledging an accomplishment achieved by the church sponsored Boy Scout Troop 603. There were 8 members of Troop 603 to acheive the rank of Eagle Scout. Only 1 in 9,000 scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout.
Though records are not kept, it was speculated that this may have been the largest induction of African-American Eagle Scouts in the State. We would like to congratulate the families, the community on this remarkable achievment.
