Have a great summer !

We're going to Corfu in August, which should be about 20 degrees Celsius warmer than England; it's no wonder the English can appear dour at times when we have to face so much grey and miserable weather.

Yet many of those who leave these shores to live in sunnier climes, find themselves back in the UK permanently.......it's just not quite the same over there......

I'm often asked What is Muffin Heaven ?

In my first book 'Universal Office Diary' I described the life of an office worker desperate to find a more meaningful existence beyond the dull routine of nine to five. But what happens when the opportunity of a new life actually materialises? Find out in Muffin Heaven!

How easy is it to establish a happy and fruitful way of living beyond the conventional workplace ?

Goodbye Heather

, , , ...

After almost thirteen years in the same office I am finally escaping for an uncertain future beyond work.....

It will be painful and strange not to see lovely Heather on a daily basis, but it's probably for the best as I don't fit her desired template of Hollywood leading man.

I have a small pay-off, but how can I earn a living once this runs out ?

My poetic and unrealistic outlook on life is not much use when it comes to the cut and thrust of business; though I'm determined to survive beyond the Chinese oppression of Tibet and the many other injustices our planet must dispense with !

There will always be hope.

All the best, Joe

For Heather.....

RARE

it might mean
much less to you

sitting together
sharing lunch

in a disused quarry
of wildflowers

where grasshoppers
were loud and jumpy

and we hacked
suffocating bracken

to allow rare
beauty to flourish

blooms that
were nothing

against your pale skin
and dark eyes

under the seductive
summer sun

and soaring
buzzard's wing

Blue morning

, , , ...

I have finally applied for the Early Departure scheme that might allow me to escape from the office I’ve worked in for more than twelve years. But the relatively modest handout will not last long, and how can I avoid becoming an employee again ?

Heather did not seem bothered as she’s too busy planning a family holiday to Turkey; we’re going to Majorca at the same time, which will be hot and busy. It would be better to go in cooler June or September, but it’s virtually illegal to take your kids out of school during term time.

This morning is a blue miracle after all the rain and floods of a miserable summer, and there was an autumnal chill for the motorbike ride on my Velvet 250 all the way from Yorkshire Wolds to the ancient city of York.

Our Horse chestnut has rarely looked more magnificent from this third floor office window; I struggle with the uncertainties of a future without lovely Heather – the person who I’ve consistently failed to reach over these last years of terminal boredom in the workplace.

Dry

, , , ...

At last we have a break from the relentless June monsoon that has seen Hull and Doncaster areas badly hit, though not on the scale of an underwater country like Bangladesh.

Today is a special meeting with my line manager Heather, because there are more changes to come in our ways of working. There will be no escape from delightful Heather who continues to arouse lustful thoughts in the minds of most male colleagues.

Our magnificent Horse chestnut has rarely looked better than on this sunny July morning, before all the cars and human traffic spoil the day's innocence.

Wet

I have sent the book of my diary to famous actor Jeff Bridges who starred in the lovely film Starman, which is still very watchable after more than twenty years. He probably won't actually get the book, let alone read it, but one celebrity endorsement could make all the difference. Perhaps I should have used the name JK Rawling (not Rowling) and then people would think my literary effort was by the famous Harry Potter authoress who brings out her final volume in the Potter series soon.............

We have unbelievably heavy rain in the ancient city of York today, which can't be doing our old buildings any good; it also means that Heather has been unable to attend a meeting in London because of potentially flooded railway tracks. Her breasts and buttocks are looking fine as ever following the removal of a long waterproof jacket, and taking a seat in the adjacent office.

So much for a quiet day with Kate...........it's not possible to have a peaceful day with Heather around.

Friday feeling

, , , ...

Heather has returned to the office from a few meetings in London and is attempting to sort out a grossly overloaded email inbox, before leaving early for the weekend. She is looking resplendent in a light green jumper (with nothing underneath) and new blue jeans.

The world from our third floor window is grey and cool, which is not unknown for an English June, as we rapidly approach the year’s longest day. Thank God it’s Friday ! It’s been a long five-day week with dynamic Heather away most of the time; and now I find myself slipping into a bad mood because of the additional pressures of work she always brings.

Tonight will be the usual heavy session of cheap red wine, and to hell with Government guidelines on safe drinking ! How else do they expect full-time workers to relax after so many thankless hours at the computer ? By playing Monopoly or Ludo ?!!
