What Was She Thinking?!

Someone hold my drink while I climb down off my soapbox.

Darkness and Light

, ,

I found two music videos on YouTube recently. One is an old favorite and it never fails to put a smile on my face! And I'm definitely going to need that after listening to the other song which I just discovered today. So .. here are both videos. One guaranteed to make you smile and the other one to make you cry. I must have sat here at my desk and sobbed uncontrollably for nearly 20 minutes. Even my cat came over to see what the matter was. Sometimes, sad songs act as a catharsis, the way the air smells clean and fresh after a rainstorm, you know? And then, listening to the happy song .. everything's okay in Joniville again tonight.

Sadness and Longing...

I CRIED FOR YOU (Katie Melua)

You're beautiful so silently
It lies beneath a shade of blue
It struck me so violently
When I looked at you

But others pass, the never pause,
To feel that magic in your hand
To me you're like a wild rose
They never understand why

I cried for you
When the sky cried for you
And when you went
I became a hopeless drifter
But this life was not for you
Though I learned from you,
That beauty need only be a whisper

I'll cross the sea for a different world,
With your treasure, a secret for me to hold

In many years they may forget
This love of ours or that we met,
They may not know
how much you meant to me.

I cried for you
And the sky cried for you,
And when you went
I became a hopeless drifter.
But this life was not for you,
Though I learned from you,
That beauty need only be a whisper

Without you now I see,
How fragile the world can be
And I know you've gone away
But in my heart you'll always stay.

I cried for you
And the sky cried for you,
And when you went
I became a hopeless drifter.
But this life was not for you,
Though I learned from you,
That beauty need only be a whisper
That beauty need only be a whisper

Happiness and Renewal...

DRUNK ON LOVE (Basia)

I was dreaming when I jumped the light
Busy scaling dizzy heights
Hummed a somewhat strangely familiar tune
My eyes as wide as open books
and on my ears upon two hooks
A big smile was hanging there like a crescent moon

It sometimes comes as quite a shock
When the gods of love decide to knock
You're in a state of disarray
Just when you least expect it--you'll never know a better day

[Refrain]
Daydreaming fever taking over
No misdemeanor--stone cold sober

The officer who stopped me said
"Lucky you didn't wind up dead!"
And he guessed that I was over and above
I hoped he'd only caution me, and made a plea for clemency
On the grounds that i was only very drunk on love

[Repeat refrain]

It sometimes comes as quite a shock
When the gods of love decide to knock
You're in a state of disarray
Just when you least expect it--you'll never know a better day
