Tomorrow is my friend David's birthday. We won't say how old he is, but he certainly is old enough to do just about anything he wants! Whether it's illegal, immoral or fattening, all I can say to my friend, David, is Let your conscience be your guide, dude! .. and then get the heck out of the way!
Happy Birthday!
I dag er det din fødelsedag
Hurra, hurra, hurra!
Du sikkert dig en gave får,
som du ønsket dig i år,
og dejlig chokolade med kager til.
English translation:
Today it is your birthday
Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
You've assured yourself a present
that you have wished for this year
with lovely (hot) chocolate and cakes to go with!
And here's a little something to listen to while you sip that chocolate and scarf that cake!
On account of it's your birthday, on account of you're my friend, but most of all, on account of I love you!
And if that wasn't enough honey and sugar and spice for you, here's the original "Cuppycake" video by Amy Castle, who was three years old when this was made in 1994.
* And this slick new laptop (he took mine over and we got rid of the one he had, so it was just a big game of musical laptops!).
* My best friend surprised me with the newest CD from my favorite singer, Gibonni!
* And I pampered myself last night with a manicure and pedicure and damn near fell asleep in the spa chair!
The long and short of it was that yeah, gifts are great, but more important is the fact that I was able to spend time today with the people who mean the most to me! A great day all around!
P.S. Why does it say July 14 on this post? Why am I on Oslo time? Here, should you wonder, it's 11:11PM on July 13.
My favorite (and the best) Internet Forum turns four years old on April 6. It's managed by my best bud and partner in crime and web design, Ivan. AND ... it's got a slick new look, too! Congrats, dawg. Here's to many more....
Today is a significant day for me. It would have been my mother's birthday. It is also the 26th anniversary of her death. But on a happier note, my "godmother" celebrates a birthday. She's a special lady for several reasons. On this day 26 years ago, this woman, who was my mother's best friend, spent the entire day with us making funeral arrangements. "I told Thelma I'd be with her on her birthday and I am" she had said. And she pretty much single-handedly took care of all the details. From the paperwork involved at Fort Sam Houston releasing the body to the funeral home (military red tape and all), to the minutiae involved in all of the funeral preparations. Because I was pretty much out of it that entire time, in a daze.
Happy Birthday, Molly! You are so loved. And, Momma, I miss you so much.
