Cat Garage (Patent Pending)

, ,

My cat has glommed onto the wicker bed tray. I don't use it much really. It had been on the floor with a pile of magazines stacked up on it, but since I rearranged my room the other day I just stick it on the chair when I go to bed and put it back on the bed after I make the bed for the day. So now guess who's decided to make full use of it?

How I Spent My Summer Vacation..

,

I've had this past week off and while I accomplished some of the things I wanted to do, by no means did I make much of a dent in the list. I did rearrange my bedroom and it occurred to me that I've got tons of photos of the house, my office, the living room, kitchen, dining room and other areas, but none of my room. So... here it is after the redo. I put the bed on the diagonal to make room for the chair and table. The desk has always been in the corner where it is now. And god in heaven, I need to get rid of those curtains. More in the photo album.

House Frau

As mentioned, we finally bought a house. (And now I am Countrywide Mortgage's bitch for the next six months at least!) Most of the photos are from the MLS listing. I've got just a few with our belongings in place, but plan to shoot some more very soon.

From the MLS listing:

Charming Updated 3/1.5/3 traditional home on corner lot. Hardwood floors and decorator paint thruout. Oversized Kitchen touts granite [yep, real actual granite, not that fake stuff] tile counters and backsplash, natural oak cabinetry, Frigidaire built-in microwave and stove, recessed lighting, crown molding and tile floors. Formal living room features mock fireplace, built-ins and custom light fixture. Master bedroom with oversized/walk in closet [Robo's room]. Full bath w/jet whirlpool tub, vanity sink and tile flooring. Spacious loft-like bedroom/gameroom [Joni's office] upstairs w/half bath. Plumbing/electricity in two-car garage.

The spacious bathroom and kitchen sold me; the loft is just gravy. The rooms are very large (1958 sq. ft.), which is good when you have someone in a wheelchair -- they've got plenty of room to maneuver. This house is in an old elegant (and deed-restricted) section of town called Idylwood. This house was built in 1935. The oldest house in Idylwood was built in 1926; the newest one in 1979. It's just a tad bit farther than where we were before, and it's closer to the freeway so I spend about the same amount of time commuting, which is to say about 10 minutes if I don't hit a train (well, not literally) or a bunch of stop lights.

It's nice having a washer and dryer and not have to run out in the heat, rain, cold to do laundry and lug it back home. Also haven't had a dishwasher in years so that's kind of nice, but I'm actually so used to doing dishes in the sink that remembering that I have a dishwasher takes some thought on my part. But we've been running it and the washer and dryer like we are still renters. And sweating the first utility bill (lights and water; gas is predicably cheap here).

But the most important thing? The cat loves it.
