What Was She Thinking?!

Someone hold my drink while I climb down off my soapbox.

What's The Big Deal?

Okay so 500 pounds and up is, well, out there. And extremely unhealthy. But so what if I have some extra junk in my trunk? I'm not going to worry about it as long as I am otherwise healthy. (And hey, I mow my grass every other weekend; if I'm gonna die, it's gonna be from THAT, not my next hamburger!)

For a refreshing breath of fresh air, Mika has a new video out, Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) (and, uh, yeah, we ARE!). Enjoy.

Image is Big Girl by San Francisco artist AnneKarin Glass.

I'm not sure if you are saying you weigh 500 pounds or you use that measure as a 'bench mark' (no pun intended as regards using a bench in the gym) to say 'this is the upper limit and i'm happy about that'.

I may even be missing the context here because - mea culpa - I have been away from your blog for a while and your post here could be part of an ongoing 'thread'.

I'm with you on the main 'sub-text'. Enjoying one's life, as if it is the last day, is realistic and becomes more and more so the older one gets. No one can know the future - even the next subjective hour is an unknown - and the sobering fact is that our time on earth is finite, limited, for better or for worse.

I've actually lost quite a bit of weight in the last couple of years, moving, hauling robert and his wheelchair around, in and out of the car and house, and going up and down the stairs to my office/sanctuary. Dropped a nice bit of weight and am nowhere NEAR 500 pounds (and I never was to begin with).. I just think that when you are getting up into that range, some alarm bell should go off in your head, you know?

I mean, I'm no Lindsay Lohan, but I think I would take steps long before that ever happened. :-)

Oh, and is it ME, but does Mika remind you a bit of Gilligan/Bob Denver?!
