Cars on a Stake
We have no idea why anyone would do this, and one could well pose the question “Why would anyone go out of their way to see this?” – Answer: because they are traveling with Jon – but here it is.

Forevertron
“Stupifyingly amazing!” Those were Jon’s words as he climbed out of the locked gate into what has been described as “The Eighth Wonder of the World” and “One of Americas Top Ten Tourist Most Interesting Sites.” A self proclaimed “Doctor” had been welding this sculpture garden in the back lot of an Army/Navy store for, like, 30 years. If a person is going to put that kind of effort towards something, then we must check it out. Stay tuned for more pictures on oFoto, since the few here could never due it justice.

The Dells
Just down the road from the Forevertron is the Wisconsin Dells, the cheesiest place in America. If one has the urge to ride a go cart in a Trojan horse, have various body parts tattooed, take a DUCK tour into the river, gorge on fudge, and stay at a flamingo themed motel (that last part tempted us) all in the same day, this is the place. Wow.

Leinenkugel Brewery
The Leinenkugel Brewery is the 7th oldest brewery in America. That is just one of many tidbits we picked up from our tour guide, Jessica, who had one of the best Wisconsin accents we have ever heard – “Okayeh. You betcha.” After a 45 minute tour of the brewery we got to sample some of the product. (Big fans of the Berry Beer!) Jon was thrilled to get a chance to use some of the knowledge he gained at BCG as a he discussed hydrated vs. non-hydrated lime with three union guys from a lime (not the citrus kind) plant in Minnesota who were also visiting the brewery. Thanks to Mel for that assignment last summer.

The Giant Stucco Snowman
First glimpse of stupidity in Minnesota. Refer back to the notes on the Cars on a Stake.

Minneapolis with HBS friends Gail and Greg
We rolled into Minneapolis just in time to get to our friends Gale (HBS Section E) and Greg’s place for dinner. After a great home-cooked meal we went out to sample Minneapolis nightlife, thankfully passing over the strip club advertising ‘100’s of Beautiful Girls and 3 Ugly Ones’ in favor of a fantastic martini bar.
