A Big, Deserted Tea Pot Gas Station
Having tasted all the local wine we cared to taste and not about to repeat the previous evening’s abominable dining experience, there was nothing left to do but stop by this icon of American culture and get out of Dodge (or, in this case, the Yakima Valley).

Cicily, Alaska
Bad news for any Northern Exposure fans out there. Turns out that Dr. Fleischman, Chris the radio guy, and all the rest were not actually in Alaska. Rather, they were in Roslyn, a (then) mostly abandoned company town in the middle of Washington. We stopped by for their Sunday market, where the only real excitement there was an offer we got on the flamingo. We weren’t selling; recently dubbed Phil the Flamingo is officially not for sale. (Though if anyone offers us enough for him, we might change our tune.)

Gay Pride Parade in Seattle
Talk about a scene change! From small town middle America to a gay pride parade in downtown Seattle. We stumbled upon this parade accidentally on our way back from the Yakima Valley. We weren’t sure what the parade was for at first, but a guy in a leotard and rainbow tank top and the guys in gold lamee and the pink feathers (pictured below) gave us an inkling of an idea…

Dinner at Ray’s
After a relaxing afternoon doing a whole lot of not much back in Seattle, we (Jon, Jessica, and Alix) went out to a great seafood restaurant for dinner. Not only were we treated to a glorious sunset, but we also caught a few glimpses of seals cavorting in the water. Not a bad dinner show!
