Fres-Yes!

In and Around Fres-Yes
Miles: 151
MPG: 41.6 (pretty dismal, but we did have an altitude change of +7100 feet, so we won’t trade the Prius in just yet)

After a great night of beer and barbeque with Zach and Catherine, we headed to the local greasy spoon, the Chicken Pie Shop, for breakfast. Arthur and Pat’s has nothing on their decor!

Note: Over Jessica’s strenuous protests, Jon decided to sport some location appropriate facial hair for his visit to the Central Valley. Jessica thinks that he should change his name to Jimbo. That, or (preferably), shave immediately.

Next stop on the Fres-Yes tour was the city’s best (well, only) tourist attraction: the Forestier underground gardens. Some crazy Italian immigrant during the early part of the last century dug out a hobbit-style house underground. Surprisingly enough, he never married. Pretty cool place (both literally and figuratively), and certainly unusual.

That was about the end of the “must see” tourism sites in Fresno. So, with nothing else to do, we went back to 105 E Michigan Ave to hang with Tule and Pansy (the neighbor’s basset hound) and play ball.

Sunday we decided to escape the excitement that is the ‘Yes and head up to the High Sierra for a hike. Beautiful!
