Shpedoinkal!
No better way to start the morning (well, closer to afternoon – late night spinning vinyl with Kim and Bryon) than to go to Littleton, CO to see the grave of Alfred Packard, the famed cannibal. Excuse me. Accused cannibal. Jon was all fired up to see the grave of the man who inspired his favorite move of all time, Cannibal the Musical (the first movie from the guys from South Park). Needless to say, Jessica was less than crushed when locating the grave proved impossible.

Oh, if you want to know what shpedoinkal means, you’ll have to watch the movie. Only one of us recommends that.
Manitou Springs
Jessica had fond memories of coming here with her Dad as a kid to play the games in the old time arcade. 20 years sure can change a place! The quaint little town she remembered was now full of ticky tacky tourist shops. It might still have been fun, but with the rain now coming down in sheets, we decided to have lunch and get back on the highway. It was a long detour for a corn beef sandwich and a piece of buttermilk pie (had to try it).
Rain, Rain, and More Rain
We left the mountains of Colorado and exchanged them for the flat of Kansas. Heavy rains prevented any real sightseeing, though the storm provided some ooo’s and ahhh’s of its own (far better appreciated from inside a dry motel room).

If this keeps going, we’ll have to start looking for Dorothy. Probably somewhere over the rainbow that welcomed us to Kansas.
