Leaving Nashville, we started heading north towards no place in particular. We stopped off at a few “antique shops,” which were more like flee markets (pun intended). Lots of bad stuff for sale, but at least the people were friendly. Perhaps the worst of the stops was the Tennessee winery; considering that the winery looked like this, what do you think the wine tasted like:?

In search for something more exciting, we headed off to Lost River Cave for the underground cave/river boat tour.

Not too bad. They even had an animal shaped rock – its becoming a theme of the trip.

If the picture were in any way visible, you would be able to see the Kentucky Wild Cat there.

Exiting the cave we stumbled on to a parking lot full of fun:

Yup. They were getting’ ready to reenact somethin’ good. Most were in shorts and t-shirts as the prepped for the next day’s fun, but a few were in full regalia already.

Jessica considered joining up as a roadie, now that she is a camping convert, but luckily she decided to pass at the last minute.

Our camping plans got rained out (our guess is that the reenactors had a not so fun night in their wet, woolly costumes), so we did the next best thing. We went out to the nicest restaurant in town. It was actually quite good. Jon’s roast quail was excellent, and Jessica, well, she decided to go for, you guessed it , Kentucky Fried Chicken. The upscale place did it far better than the Colonel ever could have.
