A Fine Romance

Spent an even shorter evening with Stephanie.
I hate how short it was...but...I'm glad the evening happened nontheless.
Yesterday, Steph and I were talking on MSN about the next time I'll be able to see her. She asked me if The Letterman was a good band, since they would be playing today downtown. Opened up LimeWire and downloaded three songs. Came back to the messenger window to declare that 3 out of 3 say cynic torture! She laughed and said she'll probably take her brother. I said I'll probably show up anyways since I really love to see her and there's no live band here. She remembered Mom's birthday and insisted I stay home with Mom. Alright, I'll see her on a day with less torture blairing over speakers downtown.
So, she went to bed and I played DOOM 3 until the wee hours of the morning. (Only til 5...not a biggy) Woke up around 11, said happy birthday to Mom, grabbed my breakfast. She did something or other and we talked about DOOM. How disappointed I was with the game. It's so...redundant after a while. Well, came back downstairs with a boc of Waffle Snax (oh mighty cheesy unhealthy goodness) and played it anyhoo. I want the satisfaction of beating it and knowing the story and everything. Went outside for a bit to kick the soccer ball around. In shorts, so I could tan up my white-ass legs, mind you. It was friggin freezing and the sun was nowhere to be found.
Mom asked me to go to the post office with her, so I hit escape and left the game on. We got to the bridge when Mom glances over and says, "So...are you going to the show tonight with Stephanie?" I had to laugh after Steph insisted I stay home with Mom on her birthday. I didn't answer, instead told her the convo I had with Steph. When we got to the post office, the conversation changed to DOOM and what we thought. I got more elaborate on the redundancy..."Hey, look! There's a corpse positioned in that chair! Let's shoot it and see if it moves! *BANG!* Oh look, Mommy! It's coming at me!" Might I just put in a moment here to say that anything under the highest default graphics settings SUCKS!
Came home, saved DOOM, quit, went to messenger to tell Steph about the ride to the post office. She laughed, Mom comes down with the laundry and asks again! I laughed and told Steph everything that happened. Play by play. Soon, Mom was throwing a guilt trip. Although they don't work on me, I really wanted to see Steph, so I gave in and told Steph I'll probably be there as it is Mummsy's birthday wishes. That got a laugh. Steph signed off a bit later, after I messed around with new ATI Catalyst drivers. They ran smoooooothly.
After that, I played DOOM more. Flying through it now, as I know practically every predictable event and a player of all its predicessors. Hit Escape after a good three hours of playing and went upstairs to be social and brag more about where I'm at in the game. (Every computer but the 400 mhz has this game installed on it.) Earlier today, I beefed up the speed by extracting the 5 .pk4 files in the DOOM base folder. Damn, did that make it faster. Turned the graphics to the second highest option. Still looked like serious shit, but hey...it was goin smooth! Washed my mouth out with Listerine because my breath is just naturally horrible. Played for another few hours. Got to a level and saved it with perfect timing to get downtown by 7.
Well, since neither Steph or I knew for sure if I was coming, there was no spot to meet her. So I ended up walking around a HUGE audience in hopes of finding her for a good hour or so. Gave up, called Mummsy who told me to call the cell phone number left in a caller I.D. belonging to Steph's mom,
who picked up and I explained rather embarassed by the stupidity of my call and then called Mom back with the failed status. It wasn't until I told her I need a ride home did Steph just...POOF right in front of me. Told Mom I found her and rushed off the phone, snuck up on Steph and grabbed her shoulders playfully. She turned and said hi and her brother gave me a hug. So we walked around. Her brother seemed rather hyper the whole time. So Steph and I did our hugging and kissing, the whole time I had one specific Depeche Mode song in my head. All I Ever Wanted.
We walked down to McDonalds, where Steph ordered coffee and actually put creamer and sugar in it...o_O She threw it out on our way back.
We ran into an adult friend of ours at the choir boosters booth who saw us and shouted, "So ya found her, eh?!" (I asked him if he saw her anywhere about an hour before.) I gave Steph a big hug and shot a grin at him. He walked over when I finally asked him if he worked with Mom's not-so-significant other at some point. It turned into a brief conversation and he hopped back to work. Came back with a big thing of popcorn boxes and offered us popcorn for 50 cents. I asked him if he could break a $5 and he just put a box on my arm, which was comfortably around Stephanie and walked off. Steph and I, laughed and eventually I gave the box to her brother so I could keep my arms around Steph. He gave it back after a few minutes and we decided to walk to her house.
On the start of our walk, we convinced Josh (her bro) to throw out his box of popcorn and take the new one. My hand was free again. So we went to 4th Street. Josh walked on walls while Steph and I waited for him to fiddle with his sandals. Almost kissed her there. WHY THE HELL DO I HESITATE THESE F'N THINGS?!
Josh was extremely hyper and would not shut up! Finally, we got to her house and I said hi to her mom who teased about that phone call. Steph just looked at me, grabbed my hand, sat herself down in a chair. Watched about 5 minutes of TV, then made our way to the kitchen, where I unloaded the 4 music CD's I made her yesterday night. Did some cuddling.
Her brother just jumped on those CD's and said we should listen to them. Got the computer warmed up and put a CD in. Steph and I were heading back to the kitchen and Josh said he didn't want to listen to them since we're leaving...We didn't want to listen, he did! So Steph set him up with an internet game and we went back to the kitchen. Did more cuddling and shtuff.
She made herself some instant coffee and gave me some ice water and we sat down at the counter. After a long while of silence, she suggested we go outside. So we did. She brought her coffee. As soon as we sat on the bench and she was laying against me and my arms around her tightly, her brother opened the window and asked her if he could sign up to this website. She said no...a minute later, the cat started meowing nonstop. Another minute past, we were observing the faded stars, another minute and we were walking back into the house. She called her brother in for making a mess with the cat food in the sink. He cleaned it up. Steph and I did the cuddling thing again.
Silence broken when the male adult scumbag called and said Mom was on the way to take me home. Steph sat on the counter, used her legs and pulled me into her. We stayed there until the tail lights of that shitty Plymouth were visible through the window. I told Steph I didn't want to go and she hopped down from the counter and walked me to the side door, which opened to find my brother standing on the porch ready to knock. I said good night to Steph, who watched me until we got out of sight. My brother was explaining to me the reason for having to pick me up so early tonight. Turns out it was because the male scumbag had to get up at 5 tomorrow morning along with my sis so they could go to New York. On the way home, I found out Mom also was waking up at 5 to see them off and party without me. Ugh, I was frustrated.
The first thing Mom noticed next to my smile filled with aggravation was my scent. The scent of a woman. Stephanie, more specifically. Whatever she smells like was on my clothing enough for Mom to smell it this time over any other night. Looked at the clock...around 10:30. Too soon for me.
Got home, took my hoodie off, which is still in the chair upstairs, grabbed a bowl of Doritos and went downstairs where I soon learned how my brother was catching up to me on DOOM. He had every friggin cheat on and was sailing through the walls, skipping everything between entrance and exit. WTF mates?!
I played up until about 20 minutes ago. The game is so friggin redundant. You can predict everything that's going to happen in a room just by glancing at it through the entrance with a flashlight. Walk in and sure enough, everything you could predict happens.
Well, I'm very tired, so I'm going to take a shower.
