About me

At the present time, I have found (and I have been told) that I'm extremely complex, annoying, self-righteous, exhausting and most of the time loveable, in my own right -- [jl]

"consistency is important. quality is everything.
JUAN LINO [jl] came to Austin to follow a love for theatre and an uncontrollable passion for dance and movement. JUAN LINO maintains a healthy and artistic lifestyle by supporting local theatre and dance organizations. as time permits, juan continues to make a few appearances on stages across austin. [jl] utilizes his experience and creativity as a platform to create new life in the art of hair, make+up (the beauty & fashion industry) and through various wholistic therapies & practices, such as massage therapy.

shortly after arriving in austin and after working with other talented artists, a few professors & professionals in and around the central texas region, [jl] found himself on a journey into the world of modern dance. during this time, [j] found himself working amongst some of austins finest professional dancers and working under internationally recognized choreographer, mentor & friend, Jose Luis Bustamante (Artistic Director/Choreographer – Sharir + Bustamante Danceworks).

in most recent credits, [jl] was presented with the privilege of touring with an amazing cast of actors, dancers & musicians. “Windblown” was a unique fusion of dance, live music and theatre created by actor JOE SEARS, one of the creators and stars of “A Greater Tuna” (greatertuna.com) and country singer & song writer KIMMIE RHODES (kimmierhodes.com). the honor of working side by side with people like the talented JOE SEARS & KIMMIE RHODES was definitely a humbling experience.

before working through a short stint as a company member with Sharir + Bustamante Danceworks (sbdanceworks.org), [jl] began to pursue an enlightening chapter into the energizing AND wholistic world of massage therapy. after a few years of working in a salon as a registered massage therapist, the decision to take on the beauty industry (hair & make+up) seemed only natural and inevitable.

[jl] came into the massage & beauty circuits graduating from one of the finest massage institutions in the state of Texas, The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic (tlcschool.com). a few years following his massage certification, [jl] dove head first into the world of cosmetology while training in one of the most eclectic and soulful neighborhoods in south austin at Vogue College of Cosmetology.

while learning make+up as a skill at Vogue was on a 'learn as you go' basis, [jl] chose to find his own techniques in creating the images and work he finds captivating today. it is from this personal experience alone that [jl] can justify why he encourages others to discover, define & refine their own individual beauty, without pretense or judgment.

[jl] has had the pleasure and experience of working with talented film makers, other hair/make+up artists and established photographers such as Jack Hollingsworth (jackhollingsworth.com), Kelly Kirlin (kellykerlin.com), Adam Voorhes (voorhes.com) AND the stylish work of Fabrizio Photography (fabriziophotography.com), to name a few.

in late 2005, [jl] was approached with the opportunity to help design hair & make+up for the sophisticated, yet sheik editorial and print ads that cover the STYLE section of the Austin Monthly, a full-fledged magazine exclusively designed for the shabby sheik, right here in austin, texas.

[jl] soon saw his work grace the cover of the Austin Monthly Magazine (January 2006). in this particular issue, [jl] presented hair AND make+up work that stretched throughout the STYLE section, only to appear again to highlight the feature article and cover story, "50 Ways To Save Time In Austin" (Austin Monthly - January 2006).

often times struggling to keep both feet firmly planted on the ground, a signature trait that most recognize as part of his charm, [jl] has remained humble and is still eager to press forward, keeping the creative process moving; the process parrallel to what most endure as life.

with the grace of never having a dull moment, a hand in every direction & network, and a presence fueled by a drive for success and the desire to be seen, if not heard, [jl] eagerly awaits the turning of tomorrow's page, the next chapter into the dream." [jl]
