Drying means arotary dryer to the material to make the hygroscopic water (generally means moisture) vaporization and evaporation, thus the hygroscopic water is removed. In a word drying is a separation process of heat transfer and mass transfer.
As the material being dried is of different condition and physical property, there is not a drum drying equipment which is applicable to all the materials. So the most important point in choosing the rotary drum drying equipment is giving comprehensive consideration and choosing the right drying equipment which is oft best benefit and feasible running condition.
The present industry drum dryer is classified into countercurrent, conduction, (coal slurry dryer), and radiation type by the different heat transfer method.
Now the drying theory mainly studies the transfer phenomenon within the material in the drying process, not that outside the material. As the types of the drying material are various, the texture and the transfer characteristic are changing in the process of dehydration. So it is hard to design a drum dryer that is suitable to a lrotary drum dryer . Until now test and experience is taken to set the drying condition. And a great amount of studies are done to the drying technology and the drum dryer equipment.
