Pensieve

Look how our society changed within last couple of decades.
Previously - each one of us had one (sometimes two or three) personalities.
Now - something else is required from us in every place we appear.

We need to be professional and serious at work.
We ned to be friendly and warm when spending time with our friends.
we need to be calm and loving when amongst our family.

This means that each one of us ends up being multiple personae. It can lead to a level of psyche-division. I guess this is why so many people these days cannot really say who they are and what they represent.

People know what is required of them - and they project these distorted images of themselves (or rather - what they would like others to perceive them like).
Slowly, we concentrate more on what we want to be seen as - not what we want to feel like.
We choose to project, instead of looking within.

Somehow I feel envious of people who lived 20-30 years ago.
Wouldn't it be easier without all the facebooking, twitterring etc?

Are we not giving up the simple happiness in order to be perceived as more "ideal"?
