Justice for all victims

My husband was featured on a local TV spot regarding Veterans, at which point the local American Legion phoned us and excitedly announced that one of it's members saw the bit on TV and offered to board our 9 yr old, tabby Talula Prudence Precious "for as long as you need us to". We were a bit concerned as we knew nothing about these two people even so we had little else in the way of options..or so we thought...
We met the couples cat Mittens and it was obvious that Mittens was cared for and so this eased our minds even though we were told by the female not to drop by as her "husband hates company well people"; we thought it may be that he has some issue with his vocal cords and uses some sort of device that perhaps causes him to feel uncomfortable and we respect that wish.

We saw the couple at the American Legion a few times and the boarders gushed at how well Talula Prudence Precious was doing and we honestly felt relief and thought our cat was well treated.

Soon, after the TV spot several of the American Legion members (not the couple who boarded our cat) began complaining to the news reporter that interviewed Steve and complained that American Legion was not primarily the focus at which time the reporter clarified that the piece was indeed filmed AT the American Legion and was never meant as free advertisement for the American Legion. Soon after Steve and I heard that the complaints were made we were told by Dog Tag Heroes to stay away from that post and so we did. On September 3rd American Legion held an all you can eat Lobster Dinner that we were invited to HELP SERVE and dine. Just hours before the planned affair the COMMANDER informed us that our services were not needed AND we could not eat there either!
We were afraid this juvenile spiteful reaction to the TV spot may affect our pet cat Talula Prudence Precious so we immediately phoned the members whom were boarding her at which time we were informed that "precious is fine" "precious is just fine don't you worry a bit". We believed them and our minds were relieved.

We phoned several times after the September 3rd call and we were told the very samething each time that "precious is fine".

A week went by and we left a message on the answering machine, no reply; then another week went by and we left another message and I grew suspicious but was sure they would call if ANYTHING had happened or been WRONG.

The following week there was a recording that stated the party was not taking calls and my suspicions grew, so I used STeve's phone which resulted in the same recording. The next week we got the same recording and felt something was wrong the phone must be blocking OUR PHONES, I used an Internet phone to call and got the answering machine same as I did in the beginning and left a message and again NO REPLY.

We were able to drive over for a visit a few days later on October 20th at which time I knocked on the door and she opened the door and abruptly stated "I lost your cat" "Rich got here really late and she ran out" "I was asleep I don't know HOW she got out, but I figured it out Rich let her out" "well, I put out food for a few days and when she stopped eating it I stopped putting it out" when I realized it had been sometime since this happened and I took in the fact that she blocked our phone numbers I asked WHEN it happened; and she began to yell and throw my cats things at me saying "oh come on" I asked "how long ago did this happen?" and she angrily bit out "I just told you" I quietly stated I heard HOW you said it happened I want to know WHEN? and she said "Oh 6 (YES SIX) WEEKS AGO." When I asked why she did not call me she yelled "I DON'T HAVE YOUR NUMBER I LOST IT" when I asked did you ask the American Legion Commander or Chris for the number they both have our number as well as the secretary who signed us up as members also the members directory has our cell phone numbers; she only grew louder and more abrasive and sarcastically remarked "oh COME ON." "I FEEL REAL BAD ABOUT IT" I was too upset to argue and did not want to waste time talking to this person I was appalled that SIX WEEKS HAD PAST! It was nearly the very day this couple began boarding her.

We stopped at the nearest animal hospital, the animal shelters, made posters and posted them at the park, shelters, animal hospitals etc. It was then that we discovered the pigs in New Braunfels, TX also took the adoption papers for Talula Prudence Precious along with all of our personal financial information causing a delay in getting the micro chip information to Animal Control. One of the neighbors called the couple "horrible people" I wish I had known. I am worried about her and pray some kind hearted soul has been feeding Talula her favorite FANCY FEAST BEEF PATE and brushing her. I dreamt of her the other night, Talula lay next to me as I slept and purred as she often did. I miss her terribly and pray she is fine. If Talula ever forgives me for taking her there with those "horrible" people I would love and appreciate the opportunity to love and take care of her again.

Luckily here anyone who keeps an animal that doesn't belong to them is a thief in fact the Animal Control Officer wants us to press charges as the weather was extremely hot and too much for most cats muchless a 9 yr old senior on her own..a cat that has NEVER been outdoors!! We know Talula would wail and cry if she were outdoors.

So I am pretty sure these are "lushes" Tim and Leann spoke of in TX the same couple the mail carrier described, the same persons Robby spoke of in CA. I wish I had known BEFORE this. We can press charges and we are going to do just that. The American Legion had our number as well as Dog Tags for Heroes, no one made any attempt to reach us and now we know there are so many good reputable shelters that would have kept our Talula Prudence Precious for us.

Her chip has been scanned so in someways that is good but I am concerned this was ANOTHER ACT OF REVENGE IN RESPONSE TO THE TV NEWS PIECE. I think maybe we should get a hold of the newscaster again. These people are trash.
