Selecting text book for Physics: Advice
Many students ask to me "From which book should I study Physics?". The wording of their Question gives an impression to me that the availability of great number text books in Physics for IIT-JEE preparation has totally confused them.
My advice to all such students is very simple and straight forward: read basic concepts from any one good book. Do not read any topic from too many books. Start a topic or a chapter by reading it from NCERT first.Solve all problems contained in NCERT.Then do some problems of the type asked in entrance exams from that topic. After this, you will be able to judge for yourself if reading that topic/chapter from some advanced book is necessary or not. If you feel that what you learnt from NCERT is not enough to solve questions in competitive exams then (and only then !) read that topic from some other advanced book. For this you can use "Resnik and Halliday's book". Other books can also be used according to your personal preference.

Different people have different requirements. So there can not be one book that is best for all. Choose the book that suits your needs from the list given above or you may also consider the books that are missing from this list. Keep one thing in mind while choosing a book - it should be easily understandable to you. Also find a good teacher in each subject to teach you if you are not satisfied from the teaching quality of your school teachers.

read Part-1 and Part-2 of my articles. Get personal tuition from some good teacher. It happens with many student. The transition from 10th level to 11th level very often appears difficult to students in the beginning. But if you keep studying sincerely then after sometimes you will get adjusted to the demands of the new syllabus. In the beginning you should first focus on studying the basic 11th syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Maths thoroughly. Think about engineering entrance preparation only after finishing the basic syllabus.

Umar,
to get good score in 12th board exam study your text books thoroughly. Do not ignore the theory and the concepts of all the three subjects. In coaching your teachers may only focus on problem solving but you have to also study the chapters' theory in detail. That will help you improve your problem solving skills too. Go to the List of All My Articles page and there click the link to an article written by me on CBSE board exams.

If you really want to be a cosmologist then study Physics and Maths in college.Do B.Sc Physics Hons. and M.Sc.-Physics. Institute like "Tata Institute of Fundamental Research" and IISc-Banglore are very good for studying Physics and Maths.
In IIST, I think, they are offering Integrated M.Sc course in Physical Sciences. That is also good.

H C Verma is good for all of you. Study it along with NCERT. But more important than books you need the help of a good teacher to build your concepts in physics.

your books are good. If you are able to understand the concepts well then you are on the right path. In maths you can use "objective approach to maths-arihant".

Rahul Sinha,
D.C.Pandey's book(Objective Approach) are good for numerical practice.
Rahul Aggarwal,
after already finishing M.L.Khanna you should now periodically keep practicing the problem solving and keep revising the concepts from different topics of the syllabus. Cover the entire syllabus atleast once every month.Solve 10 questions per chapter in any one cycle of revision.
Shubham,
if you can finish the NCERT ahead of your tuition, then Yes!, Go ahead. If not, then study at the pace at which your tuition teacher is teaching.

immediately start taking personal tuitions in each subject fron good teachers. Buying more books or taking correspondence course material will not be of much help. Only a good teacher can help you understand the subjects well.

Ramneeq
text of NCERT is enough in physics. You are using too many books, this is not good. Use one book for problem solving. The book that you enjoy solving from is good for you.
Indor
take personal tuition in chemistry from some good teacher. I can't suggest anything in chemistry because I teach physics and maths.
