Whatever the question the answer is always 42

I wonder whats next

Vista a bust? This question I've contemplated since I've seen it and used it myself. I got it on a laptop I bought shortly after it came out. I gave it some time, but it didn't agree with me at all. I removed it and put Linux on the laptop and thats whats been there ever since. I'm sorry as the aforementioned article says Microsoft made several stupid mistakes with Vista. Here is my list, I do agree with the article on some points, others I think it missed.

  • too high of a price
  • Never added the features they said, probably to make sure its out the door on time
  • too many versions
  • unimpressive, where are the hot new and useful shiney things
  • Aero counts a waste of resources, too much so for what it offers.
  • Not compatible with older systems, you need hardware upgrades to run it

Okay to be fair here is what they can do to fix it.

  • Allow annoying things to be turned of completely
  • Not require people to get higher end hardware
  • Reduce the price to about 100 bucks
  • Reduce it to one or two versions
  • Not skim on features, give people what they want and need
  • More stability
  • Maybe come with pre installed useful apps, like Linux does
  • Reduce resource usage, should not take so much HD space for just the OS

As far as I am concerned there are two OSes that got it right. Mac's OS X and Linux(ubuntu). I mean hell Ubuntu is 1.5 GB default install and comes with everything I would need out of the box.

Some dirt on Anti-virus programs.A fantastic point
