this is my last post in Opera Community. it has been 8 months being here with wonderful friends like Sukku, Mainjailtrap, Ayan07, Brokenheartvn, Reinvented and many others. I shared many things in MyOpera with all my friends. and they were all always good to me.
im leaving MyOpera from now on. i dont have a perfect reason for that. now that doesnt mean that im inspiring others to do the same.
im a little lone guy over here.. so i dont think i'll have much comments for this.
Screenwriter Stuart Beattie, who most recently wrote the script for the G.I. Joe movie is also is a huge Halo fan. Frustruated with the lack of progress with the movie, he has taken it upon himself to re-write the script, for free, based on the novel HALO: FALL OF REACH, by Eric Nylund.
It's good to see someone doing something to get this movie going.
Master Chief is Not the Main Character Mar 26, 2008
In the not so new, but new to me section, I've learned that Master Chief will NOT be the main character in the Halo movie.
Bungie Writing Director Joseph Staten in an interview with Level Up stated that Mater Chief will be a supporting character. Why?
"Where the Master Chief doesn't have a face... That's hard to carry as a main character for an entire film. But you can certainly surround him with people who don't have helmets on and you can see their faces."
I was a little surprised, but after letting it settle I actually think that's the right move.
Gears of War 2 is a tactical third-person shooter video game in development by Epic Games and to be published by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for the Xbox 360. It is the sequel to the critically acclaimed best-seller Gears of War, and was announced by lead designer Cliff Bleszinski during the 2008 Game Developers Conference on February 20, 2008. It is currently scheduled for release on November 3, 2008 and will use an updated version of the Unreal Engine 3.
Gameplay The technical demo shown at the Game Developers Conference indicated that much of the core gameplay elements that were central to Gears of War (a third-person game that has a heavy emphasis on using cover rather than "run and gun" style game play) would be present in the sequel. John DiMaggio, the voice actor of the game's main charcter, Marcus Fenix, confirmed to IGN that players would be able to fight the large, alien Brumaks in Gears of War 2. He also revealed there will be a deeper story with new characters, new weapons, and new enemies. The game will also include the ability for a player to duel with an AI or human opponent when both use the chainsaw attachment of the Lancer, as seen in the 2008 Game Developer's Conference promotional video, later confirmed in informal interviews with developers.
Development GDC Unreal Tech demo At the 2008 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California, as a showcase for the functionality of the Unreal Engine 3, Gears of War creators Epic Games showed various improvements to the engine with specific reference to the sequel itself. The video showed several demonstrations of the improvements, the initial being improvements to the in-game lighting through a post-processing method labelled "Ambient Occlusion" in which a dynamic shadows could be generated through the use of a pixel shading technique to render more realistically lighted and shaded objects and actors, illustrated through comparison between character and environment models in the original game engine to that of Unreal Engine 3. Also showcased was the ability of the engine to render hordes of actors within the engine due to the increased performance gained through use of the ambient occlusion filter, as demonstrated with a large crowd of locust flocking through the "gridlock" multi-player map from the original game. Alongside this technology was improvements to "Matinee", an artistic tool used for the rendering and editing 3-dimensional scenes within the game. Other physics-based features included improvements to the rendering of water in which specular light and physical interactions with were displayed more realistically, improvements to soft body entities demonstrated with a "meat cube" and a floating ball possessing properties similar to that of liquid helium. The largest of these physics engine related changes was the introduction of destructible environments due to the implementation of real-time structural analysis tools to generate the damage of the materials and subsequently their deformed shapes based upon resultant forces placed upon them. This was demonstrated with the use of explosive arrows fired from the "torque bow" of the original game causing damage to wooden planks, and also revealing rebar present after destroying areas of a marble structure. Devil May Cry 4 is the second sequel (Devil May Cry 3 being a prequel) to the Capcom action game Devil May Cry. It was announced in March 2007 that the game would be released simultaneously for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and later PC. It is being developed by Capcom Production Studio 4, the producers of Resident Evil 4 and the original Devil May Cry.
In the game, the player controls Nero, a new character, in addition to an appearance by series lead Dante, fighting demonic enemies in close combat using firearms, swords and a variety of weaponry in a horror setting. Also joining the cast is a new female character, Kyrie. Capcom has also revealed three new characters, Credo, Gloria and Agnus, along with returning characters Lady and Trish.
Presentation
A teaser trailer was shown at E³ 2005, depicting Dante traveling through snow and quickly performing some fast, stylish moves. A more substantial second trailer was released at that year's Tokyo Game Show (TGS), where it showed a more rugged and older Dante in a city-like setting. These two teasers showed very little detail of the game itself.
At the 2006 Tokyo Game Show a more complete trailer debuted, along with a playable demo featuring the character Nero.
Images from the March 2007 issue of Famitsu, showed Dante as a playable character. A short trailer released later showed video of the character in gameplay.
Dante will reportedly be the player's main character for around the second half of the game, until the final boss battle.
Next-Gen improvements
Itsuno said in the Famitsu article that the visuals attempt to deliver a satisfying feel of being in the air, and that the actions of Nero's right arm could not be done on then-current generation consoles and only on the PS3, though the game has since been slated for cross-platform release on the Xbox 360 and PC. Gameplay visuals, shown at TGS 2006, demonstrate this game mechanic in action. Kobayashi has stated in a Game Informer interview that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be identical, although he did not comment on the PC version. In a Eurogamer interview, Kobayashi confirmed again that PS3 and Xbox 360 versions would be identical and said that the PC version "would be great because the same team is working on both". Also the PC version will be on Games for Windows.
Peter Jackson's representative Ken Kamins has stated to Vanity that the Halo film is still a go for Microsoft. Microsoft is already in talks with other distribution projects to continue development of the Halo film.
Kamins says, thanks to the involvement of exec producers Peter Jackson and Walsh the movie is still happening. Most of the pre-production is being done at their visual effects studios in New Zealand, Weta Digital and Weta Workshop, so there will be no stalling.
"What happened was this: Universal, on behalf of both studios, asked for a meeting with the filmmakers just prior to the due date of a significant payment," says Kamins.
"Basically, they said that in order to move forward with the film, the filmmakers had to significantly reduce their deals. They waited until the last minute to have this conversation. Peter and Fran, after speaking with their producing partners and with Microsoft and Bungie, respectfully declined."
"Everybody is supremely confident in Neal," Kamins said. "Part of what excited Peter and Fran was Neal's vision. We're very confident this film will move forward with the creative partners intact, who will take the film to production."
So it looks as those Neill Blomkamp is still onboard to be director of the Halo movie and it again has some traction.
