Hybrid Trucks Coming...

I've been wondering when all these millions of giant trucks would get more efficient...given that garbage trucks and delivery trucks get only 3-9 miles per gallon. (Yes, garbage trucks get roughly three miles/gallon.)
US truck makers Peterbilt and Oshkosh seem to taking the lead here with hybrid diesel-electric drivetrains (while Toyota and Honda have taken the lead in passenger car hybrid gas-electrics). Cool article by Frank @ McClatchy.
(If you you've never been standing next to a Prius as it pulls away...it'll leave you speechless. No engine noise, no exhaust, no nothing...just a friendly wave as she pulls away.)
