Maybe you've heard some not so good news about the Philippines. Honestly speaking some are right but some are wrong. For this country has so much to offer when it comes to culture and the nature. The Philippines is surrounded by water that is why it is rich in different sea creatures.
Meet the world’s biggest fish called the “whale shark”. Whale sharks live in tropical, warm waters all around the world and are not dangerous for human beings. Though their mouth is about 1.5 meter wide, the opening to the stomach is very small. So, they are not able to swallow a human body.
If the Philippines have biggest fish there is also the smallest monkey on earth called “tarsier”. It can be found in the island of Bohol in the center of the country called Visayas. The average size of this little creature is between 90 to 160 mm (3.5 to 6.25 inches). The weight is between 70 to 165 grams.
There are 37 volcanoes in the Philippines, of which 18 are still active volcanoes. The most known volcanoes in the Philippines are Mount Pinatubo in Zambales, Mount Mayon in Bicol and the Taal volcano in Batangas. They are all located on the Northern island Luzon. Mount Mayon is the most active of the three volcanoes. In 1818 enormous flows of lava came over the village of Cagsawa. The whole village disappeared and only the top of the church reminds of the period that once there was a village.
The Cordillera rice terraces in Northern Luzon are said to be the most unique in the world. Some people call these rice terraces the "Stairways to Heaven", or "The Eighth World Miracle".
The bayanihan or spirit of kinship that Filipinos are famous for is said to be taken from Malay forefathers. The close family relations are said to have been from the Chinese. Being spiritual comes from the Spaniards who introduced Christianity. A Filipino appearance is basically of Malay with some of Chinese, American, Spanish, and Arab blood. The character is actually a little bit of all the cultures put together. Filipinos are considered one of the few, if not the only, English-proficient Asian people today. Pilipino is the official national language, with English considered as the country's unofficial one.
If you are looking for a good time and relaxation it is for you to prove. Visit this small but fascinating island.
