About me

Born, bred and educated in Liverpool, I left the city in the late 70s, along with 30% of my generation, as an economic refugee. After living and working for a year in Manchester, I left England and spent the subsequent 25 years as one of the growing tribe of Information Nomads.

In periods ranging from 3 months (Grenoble) to 10 years (Darmstadt) I lived and worked in several countries in Europe, and for short spells in the USA and northern Thailand. In 2000 I moved to Ireland, living first in Dublin and then in Belfast.

I am currently living and working in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.

My work

I am an information designer, working in the field of technical communications with over 25 years of experience in the production of cross-media, multilingual technical information products.

I have expertise in single sourcing, component content management, collaborative authoring,and localization. I also have extensive knowledge and a good understanding of the current e-learning and social network technologies. An appreciation of the impact these technologies are having on the Public and Corporate Education sectors and the opportunities for creative products this presents.

I am currently studying towards a Masters in Online and Distance Learning to fulfill my ambition to work in the field of ICT for Development.
