PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor, I know, the abbreviation doesn't match) is a scripting language used by web developers to create dynamic web pages. That is, pages that are interactive or mini programs. There is the traditional, long way to program with PHP and then there is OOP or Object Oriented Programing. With the introduction of PHP5, OOP is much easier and it allows you to reuse code in different circumstances.

I spoke to a woman the other day. She told me she had a Trojan Horse on her computer and couldn't get rid of it. I asked her what virus program she was using and she told me her ISP handled her virus protection. She used to have Avast, but signed up for the virus protection offered by her ISP and removed the program. That was when she got the virus.

I don't know how many of you are using the free version of AVG, but I received a notice form them, maybe you did too, that as of May 31, 2008 AVG will not be free any more and you will have to purchase the new AVG 8.0. This announcement was a big surprise to me and a big disappointment as well. So what do you do?

Windows is probably one of the most mindless operating systems on the market and probably the most insecure. It's insecure because of the coding and Microsoft is such a monopoly they are a target for most of the hackers on the planet. It's drag and drop capabilities are great for moving files around, but that feature in itself leaves it vulnerable for attack.

The chatter is fast and furious and the boys in Redmond are hard at work on their new release of the Windows operating system (OS), Windows 7. Although Microsoft is tauting millions of copies of Vista being sold, the corporate sector isn't buying it. There are just too many problems with Vista. For example, it will drop your network connection just because it wants to, which of course disconnects you from the Internet or your intranet.

Last week I talked about CDex, the CD ripper to convert CDs to .mp3 files. Switch is an audio file converter that will change one audio file format to another.
