How Far is to Far
So I was watching this video a friend has just posted about a mother giving there 8 year old daughter Botox treatments. I want to get into this for a minute and talk about how far is to far, I do not understand how a parent could eject something in to a 8 year old where she may or may not get in online. The daughter is in beauty pageants and the mother thought it was a good Idea, they say its because they see wrinkles really wrinkles?. If you ask me the way the mother was talking and the impressions I was getting from the interview I would have to say I do not think the mother understood it was the wrong thing to do. I think people every day make bad choices some understand they are and others do not understand, I think people who would put there child at risk like this should have a investigation done on them to see if they understand what they are doing and next there should be contact on a ongoing bases to make shore this child is safe if not removed from that. All I know is what this mother is doing giving her daughter Botox needs to stop and the mother needs to talk to a councillor, so dose the daughter in this case. I feel the daughter must be effected from this whole thing I think she would need to talk to someone because of her mother she thinks her self that she needs this Botox at 8 years old. I can not help but feel bad for this child and the damage the mother would of caused. Thinking about this case more I would like to see inside the mothers head, I wonder what kind of damage the mother mantel wise. I wonder if it was the mothers parents that damaged mother, or if the damage came from another source. I thin k we all have to be careful to make shore that this dose not become any kind of trend. I also remember the video talked about the mother said she got the idea from some of the other mothers, in that case I think some of the other mothers should get looked into to see if there is anything going on with them. I don’t know I these are just some of the things I think of all this and that’s all I have on this thank you.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Can People Change Part 2
Can people change? We wonder. In what ways and how fast and how much can a person change? What about those who vow to change only when caught, become penitent at the moment of truth--a sort of death-bed conversion with a second chance? How many faults can we tolerate, knowing that we all have our share? I don't like myself or who I was and I don't want anything to do with former me or me now. How does one shed their self? Or is it just hopeless? And if it is, that is fine. I've always thought hope was some bullshit illusion people who deny reality hold onto as a way of compensating for their weakness. One popular saying that’s always struck me as particularly stupid and harmful is, “People don’t change.” Although everyone has ingrained personality traits, we aren’t held captive by them. Believing that we can’t change encourages us to accept our weaknesses. How many people with substance problems claim they aren’t capable of stopping? It’s much easier to continue a harmful behavior when responsibility is placed on an outside force like genetics or an “addictive personality”.Saying people can’t change is the same as saying people can’t learn. When you learn something new that knowledge fundamentally changes you. Each piece of information adds to your personal database, creating additional resources to draw on when interacting with the outside world. We face the same temptations to engage in negative behavior, but we also build a body of experience that tells us the reward isn’t worth the penalty. In a sense we’re always changing and always staying the same. When I compare my self of today with my self from a few years ago, I observe that I’m the same but more. I’m the same in how I think and process information but experience has changed the way I interpret everything. Every day adds a new layer of character. We should anticipate aging with optimism rather than dread. As we grow old the beauty steals inward. The saying “people don’t change” is harmful because it denies the possibility of redemption. There is something profound about the redeemed. The man who’s experienced the lowest rung of existence and conquered his personal demons has an empathy that’s lacking in more saintly people. In a society supposedly built on the Christian doctrine of forgiveness it’s remarkable how eager we are to label people as permanent degenerates. Circumstance and hardship lead many good people to do foolish things. To say those mistakes are irredeemable is hypocritical. If the world considered only your most depraved moments, how would you be judged?People do change. We make every decision for the first time with no obligation to the past. If we control anything, we control our own thoughts and behavior. If can improve anything, it should be ourselves.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Can People Change
Here is a question people have bin asking forever, after some one treats you in a bad way in your life or acts like they our better can they change? I remember when I was younger I dated a girl and her little brother the first time we met tried to wipe me with a chine, years later after me and his sister we no longer together he caused me lots of problems, I am not going to use names it just would not be right. What I am asking is can the brother change? As I look at what studies yes he can, even though he is a product of his surroundings I believe in the good in people, I think people who grow up in bad areas are influenced by the people around them witch gives them tarts of where they live, like if they grow up in a high crime area I think that will be applied in some way to who they are, ether good or bad. That dose not mean they can not change it shows that people with high crimes in there past can change they do not have to keep doing the things they have done in the first place. It would be like some one on drugs over coming there addictions and living a good life, well I am not saying anything about drugs but I think tarts can be over written with knew ones. Know I have not talked to the brother of the person I have dated in a long time I have know idea if he has changed but I hope so I think deep down these tarts that he had could have bin over written. Now studies do say change can happen but they say it is unlikely I think it is more likely when they are changing for them self and if they have something to change for. If there is signs of the person could change they should be encouraged to change to live a better life a accepted life. I think everyone has good like I said some times it is all about finding that good and finding away to make it come out that’s how you will start to change someone for the better looking for the good. Even though studies say it is not likely it can be done I have seen it and I know some councillors who have seen it. As people with a criminal background feel like they have bin given up on and they feel like breaking the law is there way of law it dose not have to. So all I have to say is look for the good in people look for the things others would not look for do not write people off. Even though this one person has treated me bad I think they could still change and I think others who treat people bad could change. If people toke the time to look for the good, my life is different from then and back then I would of never seen the good in people but as my life has grown over the years my eyes has opened and I now know everyone has good its just about finding it. the question was can people change? Yes I do think everyone and or anyone can change if they want to.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

NARCISSISM
Narcissism, in lay terms, basically means that a person is totally absorbed in self. The extreme narcissist is the center of his own universe. To an extreme narcissist, people are things to be used. It usually starts with a significant emotional wound or a series of them culminating in a major trauma of separation/attachment. No matter how socially skilled an extreme narcissist is, he/she has a major attachment dysfunction. The extreme narcissist is frozen in childhood. He/she became emotionally stuck at the time of his/her major trauma of separation/attachment. In my work with extreme narcissist patients I have found that their emotional age and maturity corresponds to the age they experienced their major trauma. This trauma was devastating to the point it almost killed that person emotionally. The pain never was totally gone and the bleeding was continuous. In order to survive, this child had to construct a protective barrier that insulates him/her from the external world of people. He/she generalized that all people are harmful and cannot be trusted. The protective insulation barrier he/she constructed is called a false persona. He/she created a false identity. This identity is not the true person inside. The many types of false personas or identities that an extreme narcissist creates can vary. Some narcissists may have the ability to change into a variety of identities according to the situation. The wounded child inside may choose to present a front as a “bad ass” and tough individual. He/she may look, by appearance, intimidating and scary to the average person. He could also play the “nice guy/person” whom everyone likes. A corporate type version can be one that is diplomatic, proper, and appearing to care but in reality does not. Another very likeable extreme narcissist can be the one that chooses the comedian role. He/she is the life of the party and has everyone in stitches, making them laugh constantly. Everyone wants to include this person because they are a lot of fun. Try to get close or ask personal questions as to how he/she is internally doing and feeling and you will find is that he/she will quickly distract you. They will sidestep the question with another joke, making you suddenly forget what you were asking. Narcissists can be very skilled at dodging and ducking personal questions. If you press them, they will then slot you as “unsafe” and will begin to avoid you and exclude you from their life. There is also the success oriented narcissist. He/she will be your friend and keep you close to him/her as long as you are useful. Once you do not have anything more to offer and he/she has taken all they wanted from you, you are history. You are no longer desired, wanted, or sought. As I think about all of what I just said above I can think of someone that reminds me of all this, it is said and I know she thinks and dose All of this. I feel sad for this person a lot of the time thinking that maybe there some chance she may change. As I think more about this the field she is in school for right now makes me even more sad for the youth she will be working with when out of school, well I feel bad for the kids she works with now but it is going to become worse when she is done I can see it. I hope I am wrong but I do not think I am. I tried to be her friend tried to be nice but it all keeps going back to the above things I was talking about so I just had to limit myself dealing with that person. As I watch and see this person I see she is not some one who will ever see the reality of the way she is and it is a disorder and sad. I think about this person and pray about them everyday, people I have talked to about this says it is something that will never change that this person will remain in this state for the rest of her life. I hope the people I have talked to are wrong I do, I hope that this person sees her ways and tries to get some kind of help. All that I said about the person I know and so many others need help I hope they all get in one day, but as we all know one can ever get help to they want it, sad but a truth that will be forever.BY: KEITH D MILLERSHIP

Wants and Needs
I decided to take a look at needs and wants this time around, and what I see in to days world along with the research that was done did not really surprise me. As I went through the facts and what I saw for myself I think we live in a bit of a greedy place, and when I talk about place I mean north America its self. I have found that people in this place of another place in the world has more things then they need. People years ago around the depression and before it seemed that they have only gotten what they needed why well because there was less money and families tut there children the view of what they go with the money they did have. I know that my father and mother was always going on about view that is because of what the have learned, some parents have put though treats into there own children, and they are the people that will keep that going by putting that to there children. Some were never shown that they see and want there needs are thought about last and there wants are the first things they go for. This is where the world we live in is split half and half I think and this is why the world could see a another depression but that is yet to be determined give it time and we will se what way it goes it is to early to say in my books. As the world is turning and people are spending money like I said it is half and half, the question is now where dose the world go? With all these wants we get we are building a mess yes it is true that by spending money we are building the economy, but is it the choice that will let as stat healthy?, or let the world survive 100 years from this date?, all our wants we go for is not helping the world as they economy is falling in some parts of the world, fast food is not they are making millions and billions of dollars every year. If you look health care is falling just to much is being spent on wants and not needs, but if we spent more money on needs instead of wants then we would cut the cost of health care, how well if you keep healthy you will not need the health care system as much because of obesity, Canada put out a report card on health and that card says we are at the bottom of the health list. That is just one example of needs over wants that helps you and the world we live in at the same time there are countless needs over wants that helps in different ways in the world. But that is not the only resins to get your needs over wants look at this world to day what kind of example our we showing the generations coming up in the world, that it is ok to be over weight, polluting the world, and kill the world by buying things that are just going to go to the dump anyways. I think we need to make some changes in the world starting with our selves the way we eat what exercise we do, and what we buy will make our selves and the world last a lot longer then we will if we stay on this path. Remember we are what we make our selves to be, the world is what we make it to be, so I what to ask you what do you want your self to be?, and what do you want the world you live in what to be?.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Children and youth with Mental Illness
It may surprise many people to know that mental disorders are common in children and youth. About one in seven young people in Canada—or 15%—will have some form of mental disorder at any given time. Because so many mental disorders—about 70%—show up before the age of 18, they can have a huge impact on a child’s development. Mental disorders can affect how well kids do in school and how they form relationships with other kids and adults. Mental disorders, if not treated early, can be disruptive enough to a kid’s normal development and affect them for the rest of their lives. Below are some common mental disorders that affect children and teens:• Anxiety disorders are the most common disorders affecting children and youth. At any time, more than 6% of kids have some form of anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders can cause kids to be extremely afraid of things or situations that other kids are usually not afraid of.• Attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder (ADD or ADHD) affects about 5% of children at any given time. ADD/ADHD makes it very difficult for kids to focus their attention. A child with the disorder is also more impulsive and harder to settle down than other children.• Conduct disorder is a disorder that affects about 4% of children. It leads children to be extremely aggressive and destructive toward other people, pets or property. They may also seem like they don’t care about important but basic rules, such as by doing things like regularly skipping school or running away from home.• Depression is a mood disorder that shows up most often during the teenage years. Nearly 4% of young people in CAN have depression. Depression can affect a child or youth’s attitudes and mood, making them feel unusually sad or irritable for more than two weeks at a time.• Psychosis is a condition that involves loss of contact with reality. It affects 3% of the total population but most often appears during adolescence and early adulthood. It can be seen on its own or with some of the disorders mentioned in this fact sheet.• Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that will affect about 0.1% of young people. It usually starts during the teenage years. Bipolar disorder can cause a young person’s moods to change back and forth between extremely high moods, called mania, and extremely low moods, called depression.• Eating disorders are more rare in children with about 0.1% affected, but the risk increases with age: 2% of young males and females aged 15-24 are at risk for an eating disorder. Eating disorders involve a distorted body image along with seriously harmful behaviours to manage food and weight, making it difficult to nourish oneself properly.• Schizophrenia affects about 0.1% of young people, and usually shows up between the ages of 15 and 25. Schizophrenia causes people to lose touch with reality and makes it hard for them to think and speak in an organized way.• Suicide often co-exists with mental illness. Suicide continues to be the leading cause of death among 15 to 24 year-olds and suicidal thinking or attempts are also alarmingly common. A CAN survey found that in one year, 7% of youth had made a suicide attempt, 11% had planned a suicide and 16% seriously thought about suicide. As we look at them people wonder what the parents have done wrong but it is not about that, it could because of the parents what they have done or it may not have anything to do with what the parents have done. In a lot of cases it could vary well be the fact of genetics is the reason of the mental illness or disorder, looking at a lot of studies done a lot of parents do blame them self for a lot of the problems found when it could have nothing to do with them. Looking at the shame a lot of people feel about the mental illness or disorder is growing and could be the cause of not doing what is needed to treat there the problem with that is untreated they could hurt someone or them self. The studies show that with professional help people with mental illness or disorders have a chance of living a normal productive life for the most part. The feeling with people seeking help like I said before is the shame factor I think to eliminate the shame factor we need to educate people about mantel illness and disorders by doing that people will have a better understanding and we can start to remove the shame factor from the case. Children and youth with mantel illness and or disorders do not understand in anyway I don’t think anyone really understands but they will not understand for shore they are just learning about them self so if they have a illness or disorder they would think there is something wrong and again it could turn into that shame factor, that is another reason for the education so we can make shore that shame factor is gone. Then the child and or youth would be more open to talk about there problem. One of the biggest key to dealing with children and youth with mental illness and disorders is not to treat them any different then others they will notice that and you do not want them to feel bad about it or feel like they should be a shamed about it. you should always aim at finding ways to connect and help them every chance you get by connecting with the child or youth you build a trust you can use to help them. Children and youth depending on the illness or disorder they can be helped by different treatments one being counselling, another is medication it all depends on the needs it could be a mix of the two, or nether everyone is different and that is one of the main keys to remember, again remember it is all about trust what ever the plan to work well you should have the trust of the child or youth. Judgement Mental Delay
Historically, persons with disabilities have been confronted with not only the physical and mental impediments of their disability, but also with the accompanying social stigma and negative social attitudes. A persistent negative attitude and social rejection of people with disabilities is evident throughout history and across cultures. Ancient Roman and Greek cultures viewed persons with physical disabilities as burdens on society and as less than human (Rubin & Roessler, 1995). People with mental illness were viewed as either immoral souls punished by God, or as being possessed by demonic spirits requiring exorcisms and other religious interventions (Deutsch, 1949). Individuals with mental delays were mocked, teased and used for social amusement (Kanner, 1964).Negative attitudes and a high degree of social distance towards people with disabilities has been well documented. Research has shown, however, that the degree of social rejection and social stigma varies with specific disabilities, creating a well-defined hierarchical order (Strohmer, Grand, & Purcell, 1984). In studies examining the hierarchical attitudes towards disabling conditions, mental delays and mental illness have consistently been cited as the least socially accepted. As I look at people in this society we live in everyday I find myself disgusted with it, I feel that the understanding of mental delays is not there because of what I see in day to day life. All around us I see people with the most disrespect for people with mantel delays, and it seems like they are ok with the disrespect I don’t think they may even realize what they are doing when the show the disrespect. I think in the world today what we need to do is take a step back and take look, I would like to ask if it was some one in your family would you want people to show that disrespect? most would say no but yet they do it anyways. The studies that have bin done all show that people are being more understanding towards people with mental delays, but there are still lot of people who gives people with mental delays judgement I guess what people do not understand they fear. The way the world is today I find it hard to accept the ignorance people show, I do not think there is any need for it, and I think there is no room for it ether. As a person who works with people with mental delays I think if we just toke are time we would see a whole other side to these people who have these mental delays, a term that was used years ago and still is in some places retardation is a false name for the people with mantel delays, they are not retards is mostly every case these people are vary smart in there own way. I think it is all about finding that one think it clicks with a person with a delay to find out who they really are. In conclusion to what I am saying is I think we need to push the education so the youth coming up in the world will have the knowledge and understanding because if people know about things they do not have the fear that goes along with not knowing and not understanding.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Youth Using Social Networking
As I re-visit the use of social networking with youth the question is are youth likely to have addiction from the social networking. I do not think it is a yes or no answer I think it has to do with the youth that is using the social networking. I think every one is different and no two people will have the same effect when using the social networking. They say the data is not in yet on if there is a addiction connection to this but I think when the data dose come in because it is close to coming in it will show that there is a addiction connection to social networking, but not for everyone that uses it. I think it will be up to what kind of person is using the social networking if the youth using the social networking is known to have addictive personality then I think they will have good chances they will have a addiction to the social networking but again saying that maybe not. I think it will be up to if they are in to it some people are interested in things but some people are not into the same things so what I am saying is you could be in to using the social networking but that person may not be into it. if that is the case that would mean it would not matter if that other person has addictive personality they may not get any kind of addiction from the use of social networking. Looking at the way addictions work that other person may not get any addiction from that but you who are into the social networking who dose not have addictive personality still could get a addiction from the use of the social networking. Like I said the data is not in yet but the more and more research I have done on this social networking the more I see the components for addiction like any other addiction. I think the use of networking needs to be used with care the social network was never designed to a person to have a long exposure to it like the way you will see youth using it today. Io do not think there is anything wrong with youth using social networking it is like keeping connected on a new level I just think the people need to look at how it is used the length of time it is used and the type of control youth are using when it comes to social networking. People of all ages need to keep in mind that it is a tool but it can be dangerous if not used in the right way. As we keep looking at the use of social networking we should look at the control of it as well. like what are the steps taken to perfect the youth in using social networking. As fair as I can see nothing most have a age that there are suppose to be before joining any network but at this point the way the internet is today there is no way to enforce the age limit. Social Networking is a open way to stay in contact what it is also being use for is to commit crimes doing Freud and pedophiles have bin using networking pull children and youth in. I think networking can be a good tool for youth but I think parents need to find away to have more control over the networks on the internet. I think the people who run the social networks maybe should be trying to come up with more security for these networks that will protect the youth on the internet I also think in is a community effort to protect youth in life and on the internet it is all about keeping the control and knowing what is going on with the youth using social networking.Education is also a big think teaching the youth about what to look for what sites to try to stay away from and given them the tools they need to protect them selves. Looking at the Youth and How they Connect
As I look at the youth of today and how they connect with others always seemed interesting to me, because of when they connect with others it is the first steps in making the connections that will last for the rest of there lives. As we all know friends come and go but when you truly connect with someone research shows that some path ways are formed in your head witch means those connections never go away. You could meet someone and not see them for years and when you see them again there is that feeling for knowing them even that you have not seen them for years. It seems like depending on the connections that were made in the head your comfort level may be different then it was when you met the person. Another thing I have noticed is if you made a connection with someone and then they do something to make you mad the connection is still there but more path ways are made but going in different ways witch can change the way you feel about the person you have met the connections are still there just transformed into something new. I find this interesting because people meet a lot of different people in there life so that would mean there would have to be hundreds maybe thousands of different path ways, the connect one person to another. I would think if this is true like the research is now saying this would mean we all are linked in this world its not just a saying. Even if you do not know a person well it could still effect you in your life. As I look at the research there seems to be know known age this starts at so that would mean new born are making the connections right from birth and it keeps going to we all die, everyone you have made the connection with also have made one for you so the link is connected for the rest of your life. I like this concept because that would mean we not alone in are in are lives there is always a connection witch could also mean there is always someone thinking of you at all times if not a wear of thing of you then on a subconscious level of some kind. They say everyone is connected in some way research I have read now says that is true by the path ways in your head when you meet some one, saying that the path ways can go to ways it can make you feel life long connection with a person forever or it could run the path ways the other way and you could hate that person and want nothing to do with them. The way I see it is up to you there is no predetermined way it must go you can be friend anyone or hate anyone I think the path ways that are formed is up to you I think at the end of the day you decide how the path ways go. That could be determined on your attitude in your life your set of mind at the time and just how you are as a person you do not have to like or hate anyone it is up to you. BY : KEITTH MILLERSHIP

As I look at the youth of today and I look at the struggles they are having one of the struggles that stand out the most and seems like is getting worst is out of control eating, this is a problem all over the world not limited to just males or females but it seems like it is seen more in males where females is more likely not to eat. Some eat because of stressors others eat because of boredom whatever the reason it is a issue that I think is not looked at enough, this has bin going on for years and just now it is beginning seen in main stream news but not seen enough. Millions of youth a year die from over eating and it can be stopped with help. I guess I fear that people can just stop eating when they want but if it is addiction like any other they can not they need the help required to stop, otherwise they can not stop the eating. I think this is something that is more overlooked then anything because normal eating is an everyday concerns no body looks at people eating. No body sees or knows who is a over eater you have to want help before you can receive help just like any other addiction out there if you do not want the help then there is no help. I have had a problem at times with over eating my mind was not right I did not think I did have any problems when it was going on. As time passed and I started to realize I did have some problems I did not know what to do so I stopped eating. Then I had a problem not eating as I have seen both sides of both worlds I know that it is not easy. Thinking about myself and thinking about others with the problems of over eating or not eating enough you need to think about your self youth patterns and your health you should talk to your doctor your friends your family look from with in these are just some thoughts.BY: KEITH D MILLERSHIP

Level for Where You Are At
So as I think back and look at what I use to do for work and I look now I have certainly changed gears. From retail to health care yes my choices in my life for what I want to do with it is on a different track. I would not say there is a right or wrong way it go when it comes to work I think it seems you pick what you do for work depending what you want in your life. For some retail is ok for them it’s on the same area of where they are at. To understand where some body is at in there life all you have to do is look what they are doing for work and what they spend there money on. It seems you can tell a lot about a person and where they are at by how they spend there money and on what how they spend there money. They say teens are not on the same level as some one who is in their 30s or 50s and my guess and with the research done cognitively I would agree to that statement. But looking at all the facts about this subject there is exceptions’ to that where the teen could be on a different level a higher one maybe. It would take something extreme for the teen to be on a higher level for them to spend all there money in responsible places and on responsible things all the time most adults don’t even spend there money responsible all the time. But it is possible if the resins are right and the teen or adult is in the right place to do so and the right level. Looking at the way the world works money driven, there is a infinite number or levels when it comes to youth to adult spending to see where the person is in there life. Most people go through a series of levels before they hit the one that stays with them. If some one controls that persons money that will not stop them from later going through there levels to find where they are at in there life. That is why it all goes by where they are at in what they do for work because it is money based the work they do. The level of work = the level of pay witch shows where they are at and what they are about in there life.More pre-teens to teens have cell phones and laptops then adults in this day and age even though the pre-teen or teen dose not work they still have the money because the parents level is keeping there child happy so they are about buying things to keep the child happy. Remember what you do for your work = the level you are at in your life.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Ideas That Matter
So last night I went to a workshop it was all about tweeting, texting, teens & chat: The internet and sex in the lives of youth. I thought it was interesting what Lucia O’Sullivan had to say she pointed out that we live in a digital world and we would never be able to go to a pre-digital world. She also was saying about how parenting you can only show your youth the rights from the wrongs the internet is so impersonal that more teen girls and some boys are more willing to say or do things online that they would not do otherwise. I think it is interesting that one of the other things brought up was how the internet is the way of the world but there is no data to support at this time that there is any connection to addiction when it comes to texting, tweeting, or social networking. I found the workshop vary informative and I think that I have learn a lot but there is still much more for us to learn the data is still somewhat new and I am egger to see how it is in about 10 years when it comes to the data. I would like to point out that as are children grow up and start becoming young youth of this world it is normal that they are going to want to join the world where it is at witch is a digital world we live in, even if the parents are not in to the digital world as it is there youth will be and there is no stopping it. when the data was shown to everyone at the workshop I thought it was something to see that New Brunswick was on the low end of the whole Texting, Tweeting and social networking use statistics. As I think about the workshop and the way the world is today I think we are still young when it comes to the whole digital world thing. I think we will be amazed if we just sit back and watch what comes next. The whole parental control on the internet and the whole texting, tweeting, and social networking for youth, unlike I said before about censoring tit all I think maybe I was wrong I think we need to just do more parenting and show are children the good from the bad in this world, and trust that they follow the right path when it comes to the digital world.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Trying to Understand Poverty
So ones again I am looking at poverty I have talked about how the government is broking and needs a fix. Well I am writing this paper trying to understand poverty on the three levels. 1. middle class 2. the working poor 3. the poor First I will go and talk about the middle class the people in this area works and pays there bills they have a little extra maybe they are not worrying for the most part. Then you have the working poor they work pay some of there bills when they can they do not have any extras at all. Then the poor then do not pay bills they may not have a place to live and they may not have any type of work. As I talk about each of the levels the statistics say that youth are more effected in all areas of hitting the poverty line. The youth that I have talked to about money have a clear understanding that even if they have the money to live they may not have any extras to play with. Most people who move away from home for the first time or who are leaving a relationship may not have money to just easily start all over. Some people who have bin with some one for a long time have everything invested with that person to leave them would mean to be ruined. I think it is some what funny that they say put money away for a rainy day you should if you can but the fact is most people can not afford to do that what ever money they have is set to for bills right then not open for other things. I keep going over what poverty is in this country and it seems like a lot of people do not understand what it is them self it seems people like living pass there means through the world of credit. I do not think that is the smarts thing to do but some who do it seem to think that is the only way to get ahead by paying bills or buying food or they want to have a good time and that is the only way they can. any way you look at it you are stuck in a broken system and I believe that the Canadian government wants you to be stuck because in away if you get stuck they own you the more you owe the more you will have to work witch will boost the economy. So stores then up the prices and people must work even more it seems for the people in poverty it is a lose, lose system like I said before a broken one. The only way to understand poverty in my books is to go out and see what people have to do to live. Go out and see the people will work to they die so they can try to live the dream. The poverty of this world is what keeps the world moving and the economy booming not just that but that is a big part of it. BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Poverty
So as I look at poverty I forced to look at statistics and youth make up the majorly of poverty in Canada. I find that vary sad because ones again I have to point out a system witch is failing. Everyday even with the programs that are in place for people the are youth starving with know where to live. I must ask myself why? with the programs in place this should not be happening. With the money the government is and has bin paying out for years in funding costs. Why is there still people falling through the cracks? I just do not get it. how the system for people can be so messed up I thought the system was put in place to help everyone but it seems not to be helping as many people as it should be. I find more youth and elderly people are the ones more effected from the poverty issues. I think we need to look at how the system is set up and what there plan is to help every one maybe they should come up with a new one. The plan they are using is not working now of course some of the people in poverty may have some kind of underline problem witch is making then live in poverty. if that was the case then is in it are job as a society to help those people in some way I know what they say you cant help them unless they want help there is a number of people who do not even get a chance to be help. I think it is sad the way the world has turned out in that aspect. Know we cant forget the working poor they work everyday just so they can live in poverty. I think there is three levels of poverty middle class witch is not poor but in these times are getting closer. Then there is the working poor who work everyday but have no money for anything its rent or food. Then there is the poor its self who has no work no way to pay bills it is not a healthy way to live at all. The way I see it the system needs to be stripped down to the core and rebuilt brick by brick with a real plan to help people and not just keep turning a wheel of a broken system witch is not help as many people as it should be helping. The government needs to take some real time to find a plan to help not just say they are helping with people in poverty. We can not over look the people with problems we need to give them real opinion not just the ones we have bin giving people. BY: KEITTH MILLERSHIP

Social Networks and Youth
I see all these networks youth are joining to stay connected with the world, its how they talk to the friends, family, its how students stay connected. I find it interesting that youth seem to have addiction to them not just youth it seems like a lot of people have addiction to the internet and networks but it seems like the addiction starts in there youth and it continues through there life. When I was younger there was no social networks but today there is and it is away of life. I think youth today take the internet and networks for granted youth do not understand what it is like to have no Facebook, MySpace, or twitter, most youth to day are on these network. I feel like some of the problems we see are on these networks one way or another like bullying or porn its effecting youth in a bad way and my point a view is on this we have to censer the networks and the internet better. Youth seem to know the ins and outs of all these networks they spend all this time online not using it to help them self in like in one way. In another way well they are using it to help them self they are using the social network to network with people in the future the networking could help them with jobs with with social groups with working around the system research if they use the networking right. If they use it wrong well it could hurt there job schooling social groups hurt them in general. It can be vary tricky for youth to know the right things to the wrong things to do or be a part of online. Looking at security on the networks I think they need more most of these networks have age requirements but there is know way to enforce them so anyone can join these networkers. I think there needs to be more restrictions for youth like supervision of the youth. I think if there was time limits put on the youth well on these networks you would stop some of the problems with addictions and with laws being broking online. With the right rules put into play and the right kind of security the internet, social networks, and the internet would be a much safer place all together thank you.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

THE CHOKING GAME
I want to a workshop last year about the choking Game I did not know that much about the choking game I thought it was something way different then what I was told it was. Anyways never new youth were choking them self to make them self light headed so they could get a high out of it. youth find this game cool because they can get a high without doing drugs so they think it is ok to play this game. I can see if you don’t know much about this game why you would think it is ok to play. But as I sat at this workshop my jaw just dropped. Youth were playing this game thinking it was ok at ages young as 7 and 8 years old. They never thought about the risks in this game I think if they thought they could die from this game. I think they always thought they could keep it under control. A lot of people do not know how many are playing this game well the women who was a speaker at the workshop I did her son and most of his friends were playing this game they told her this. I think it is one of those things we will never understand but we have to get educated about this game because are youth know about this game so we need to know about this game. A lot of people do not know about this game yet some being police and doctors your youth could have bin marked a suicide even if they were never trying to kill them self but because of the lack of knowledge about this game they think it is just a suicide when it may not be. I think a big thing is talk to your youth even if they may not want to if you think something is not right talk to them make them talk do what ever you have to do they may get made but its better then them not being a live. The choking game is here like or not we need to be on the look out for it if we are not we will be hit from behind with it. As a student in the youth and child field I think this game needs more attention by everyone if we do not take the time to talk to the youth about this or inform anyone then it is just as much are fault they died. I know when I am going to be working with youth I will always be on the look out for this because it is all around us. Please make shore you inform your self about the choking game knowledge is power thank you.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Stress in Youth and Children
Stress in Youth and Children As I think about my childhood and growing up I know it was vary hard nothing ever was easy so much things come up in a Childs life when growing up. As adults we think we know what it is all about but now that I think back and I think of my kids I know we do not know what is all about. It is even more hard now in this day and age for kids and youth growing up there is much more going on in a Childs head more stresses for the child to deal with. As adults we think what on earth do the child have to stress about but if you think about it with there friends school whatever there parents are at each other about it builds up for the child just as much as it would for anyone. As I look at the stress level for adults and children I see it building up in children more and more and continuance to adulthood. Stress can and will cause problems to children and youth when it comes to there learning. You can see these stress build ups in children and youth by the way they act you can tell by the tension or the worried look on the child or youth face if the child or youth is always like that then you should check up on the child or youth. It is vary important we keep children away from stress. It is not there job to be dealing with stressful things of course they will have things that will stress them out but the key is to find something they enjoy to off set that stress so it does not become to much for the child or youth. An activity of some kind is always a good way to deal with the stress. It is a good idea for parents teachers and other family members to help the child and or youth with the activity that will give the child or youth the understanding that some one is there for them. I think children and or youth need people to tell them its ok needs to know that everything is going to be ok. I think that would on its own lift a lot of the stresses for the child and or youth to know that everything will be ok. Looking at a child or youth they need support all the way around that would keep the stresses down as well. BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Youth in the Education System
Youth need boundaries in there life they need detraction to keep them on track if they do not get what they need they will most likely get them self into trouble. Youth are meant to be shown the rights and the wrongs to living if they are not shown they will be miss guided in there living. Parents have a small window in a youths life to show them everything they need to get the knowledge they need other wise that window will close. The youth will have a much harder time learning what is needed to live in a everyday world in some cases they do not get what is needed and they are left with delays in there lives.Youth in Canada are lucky in many ways with how much resources we have compared to other countries. If the resources are used right the youth has the best education available. There are lots of cases where youth get dropped through the cracks and they don’t get the best education. Sometimes youth have problems like disorders that never get deionised and that is why the youth falls through the cracks. Other time it is because the youth do not have the skills needed to follow the plan for them.Looking at the system that is set up for youth like I said before I think it is broken on every level. I think youth fall through the cracks because of the way the system is broken. I think the parents need to focus of there youth more and teachers need to use the full resources of what the school has to offer even if it means teaching the youth more out side the class room. I think it is all a partnership of the system and the parent nothing will never get done for the youth if the parent never pushes it. that is sad but in this day and age it seems like it is so true. To make shore that the youth is getting all the resoures that the youth can get the parents must follow it up at home helping the youth open there mind with there lives. The boundaries and detraction in a youths life only goes as fair as the parents and the teachers want to go with the youth, the system may be broken but that dose not mean the youth can not get the most out of there education the system can be made to work if both parties work hard at it. No matter what delays or problems a youth may have it is never to late for them to get a education after the window closes it maybe harder but they can get what is needed to live in everyday life.BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

THE CHILD AND YOUTH SYSTEM
As I look at this country we live in and I look at the child and youth system that is set up to protect and educate are youth I must say I see a lot of problems with it. I think the way it is set up is based off of a old system and is out of date all around there is problems that needs to be looked at from top to bottom for the education and protection of youth in Canada. As I think back to some cases witch the government in this country should be looked at for –ex. Ashley Smith from Moncton, NB – just to name one of them witch is still being looked at with minimum results. If that one case is any induction there is a lot of broken parts when it comes to the services for youth in Canada. Just think that is just one case there is more of them in this country witch are swapped under the rug everyday. The people who are here to help youth in Canada have a set of rules and guild lines they have to follow my question is why don’t the people who set up theses rules and guidelines have to follow them, and a even bigger question is why are the youths rights not being followed in this country.I think there needs to be polices reviewed and enforced on a more stricter line. Also I feel a stronger investigation needs to be done on the people who have and are braking rules and guidelines. All youth who come into any kind of detention center or into police custody should have a full sociological evolution no matter why the youth comes in. I feel like if these steps are followed youth will be better protected in Canada or anywhere if they follow these guidelines. All I know is that these injustice needs to be stopped before they go any farther. I think it is important for people on the out side of how the system is being run to watch and give there feed back to make shore that youth are being protected in every way possible. I think another important think would be on any board or panel for there to be a out side party to be apart of that to be able to look at what is going on. Everything I have put in here shows ways to better protect youth. BY: KEITH MILLERSHIP

Homeless Children and Youths in Canada
So Here is some stuff I have come a cross about youth and the government of Canada take a look at it, I know what I think of it all but what do you think.Quote from the Canadian Government report on homeless people"Thousands of children run away from home each year in Canada. In 1995, for example, 75% of the 56,749 missing children who were reported to the police were runaways. Police departments say that, although 90% of these runaway children return home within 60 days of leaving, the others never go back. Alarming as these figures are, runaways account for only a portion of the homeless youth population, which also includes young people living in shelters with their mother or both parents. The 1987 CCSD survey found that 11.5% of the people in the shelters documented were under the age of 16. Street or homeless youth tend to range in age between 12 and 24, the girls being generally younger and the boys older.(11)The situation of homeless youth, as portrayed in the data from the relevant services, is clearly not encouraging. Several researchers and field workers have noted in this regard that the street children and runaway youth use various strategies to survive when living on the street or running away: staying with friends, engaging in prostitution, and committing offences. And the longer they are homeless, the more likely they are to commit offences in order to survive.Mistreatment is often cited as a factor in youth homelessness. A number of studies have confirmed that many homeless young people have been victims of sexual, physical or psychological abuse. A 1992 study by social service agencies in the Ottawa-Carleton region indicated that 75% of the street children interviewed had left home because of sexual assaults or physical and/or psycho-emotional abuse. However, living on the street is no protection; although street life is a violent environment for anyone, it is even more violent for homeless young people and women, and is often accompanied by multiple risks.Again, however, more than one factor is associated with youth homelessness. The literature on the subject commonly links changes in the job market, particularly the growing use of casual labour, to the increased vulnerability of young people. Casual, unskilled employment in the service sector often does not provide the security and wages needed to acquire secure housing. Many young people are not managing to earn enough income from employment to provide themselves with stable accommodation. Given the threshold skills that have been required for most jobs since the 1980s, access to the job market is especially difficult for those without specialized training or much academic achievement. The growing presence of young people among the homeless is a phenomenon noted by virtually everyone in the field. However, there is much work to be done before we have an adequate understanding of why this is the case in Canada."Hep C prevalent among homeless youthCBC- Saskatchewan, April 23, 2004SASKATOON - A study of homeless youth in Saskatoon has come up with some disturbing findings.Nearly 10 per cent of the young people who took part in the research tested positive for hepatitis C. That's more than double the rate of any other Canadian city where the disease has been studied.WEB SITE: Hepatitis C: Health Canada The research was conducted by Saskatoon community health nurse Jocelyn Andrews. It was the first study to focus on street kids rather than all drug users in the community.Andrews also discovered that a drug routinely prescribed for children with an attention deficit disorder was abused by many of the 186 homeless kids who were studied."What we saw in this subset of this street youth population is injection drug use is a risk for hep C, but what we found in Saskatoon is that use of Ritalin by injection was strongly associated with the hepatitis C virus."Andrews says the jury is still out on the role a needle-exchange program could play in reducing infection in youth. Most users of needle exchanges are in their 20s or older and just having a clean needle is not the answer."The needle-exchange service offers just the needle," Andrews says. "With hep C we know it's readily transmitted through not only the syringe that people are using to inject, but also the other paraphernalia that goes on with that practise: the water, the filter, the spoon."Andrews says there's a positive spinoff from this study. The kids who tested positive for hepatitis C have now been told where they can get medical help.NEWS RELEASE- For Immediate Release - April 14, 200832 NEW TRANSITION BEDS FOR HOMELESS YOUTHVANCOUVER – Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by provincial and community partners today to celebrate a $5 million funding partnership for a major expansion to Covenant House Vancouver, a shelter and resource centre for homeless youth.“The services provided by Covenant House make a real difference in the lives of hundreds of young, at-risk British Columbians every year,” said Campbell. “Transitional housing can be the turning point for homeless youth. This project will get more young people off the streets and into a secure environment while they get the help they need to plan for healthier futures.”

YOUTH AND EATING
