A Day in the Life of Jimmy

This is my personal blog, but its 90% reviews of new technology I get.

Wow, Where Does The Time Go?

So it's been nearly two months now. Oh Snap. I bet you thought I had forgot about this and you would never see another post again. Fear not, for I Have returned with yet another blog post. I finished my fall semester of school a week or two after my last post. I passed everything so that was nice. A in Peripherals, B in Switches, and C in Technical Writing and Group Communication. I was thrilled passing the latter two, now I'm done with my General Education Requirements (GERs) and just gotta worry about my Networking classes which come naturally to me and I've never got less than a B. I was off of school for about a month from December to January. Not too much happened. Oh, except my significant other moved away while I stay here to finish school. I miss him.

I started school again mid-January taking Intro to Computer Science and Firewalls as well as a CertPrep class. If all goes well when this semester is over I'll have my A+, Net+, and CCNA and I'll have just one more semester till I'm back in the arms of my honey. So far CS is dullfully dull. Everything we've gone over I already know about. For the most part. Firewalls was boring at first, but after doing a few labs, and getting a feel for how they work, I'm starting to like that class, and its not hard at all. Firewalls will be over at the end of February, and then I will be starting Advanced Switching and Routing for the other half of the semester as well as Servers.

Other than school, not too much has been going on. My Minecraft server has been pretty active lately, been playing some Battlefield 3 here n there, as well as eve online. I did however get this new Remote Desktop app for my Playbook. Even tho I already had the RDM+ I thought I'd risk a few bucks and try another one, and boy am I glad I did. It is a million times better; Splashtop. Whereas RDM+ took a screenshot of the desktop which it then refreshed, Splashtop actually streams the desktop in real time at a pretty constant 30 Frames Per Second. Audio too! I can basically do anything I could normally do at my pc. While its not perfect, and doesn't do everything I'd like it to, it performs exceptionally and is well worth the money. My keyboard works with it, for the most part. It sees *every* key as a character so pressing shift for caps or special characters results in [] shiz everywhere. I'm not sure if thats the fault of the keyboard or the app, but still, it worked so well I bought a Bluetooth mouse to go with it. If a mouse worked with it I'd have my entire computer anywhere. Unfortunately a Bluetooth mouse does not work with it. I hope they may add mouse support yet. So instead of having a mouse I still have to poke around on the screen, but hey I can still type. While the mouse may not work with Splashtop it does make most everything else more convenient on my Playbook, from using the webrowser to typing up assignments, so it wasn't all bad.

It's the weekend, time to chill, relax, and put off homework, and thats what you missed, in A Day in the Life of Jimmy.
