Random thoughts

Alright I got a few things to discuss this time and they don't really involve vet stuff so you can all be happy. First off I almost killed myself running today. Turned my ankle on a root but luckily my years of cross-country running and baseball have made my ankles strong to that kind of abuse. Then less then a minute later I almost face planted as I tripped over a root but luckily I was able to stumble for a few metres before I regained my feet.

This has been bothering me lately so I figured I would bring it up for discussion. How have groundhogs lasted this long? Are they super breeders or something? They seem to have no defences except running into a hole in the ground if there is danger. They're the porkiest creatures I've ever seen and they seem to like searching around open fields which you would think would leave them open to predators but apparently not. The only thing I can think of is that they are just too fat for anything to bother with them. Think about a hawk trying to pick up and carry a porker like a groundhog around, it just wouldn't work. So ya, that has been my random thought process recently.

Well I'm done my externship, I'm sure I'll be back up there to play golf a few times and maybe do some more surgeries. I'd like to thank a few people/animals for making my time there great. First to L.B. (Little Bastard), thanks for making our drive interesting every day as we searched for you around the calf hutches and we'll never forget the time you got out into the corn field, good times. The queen of the power walkers, I hope you can train your protege to be half as good a mennonite power walker and she can dominate the mennonite olympics as you did in your prime. Finally, Stop For Pop, I apologize for not yet stopping but I promise that when we head up that way to play a round of golf we will stop and grab a couple pops. I'll miss you all.
