It’s No Coincidence

Do you ever think about someone and then all of a sudden they contact you or just show up? And you might think to yourself “Wow what a strange coincidence. That was pretty creepy.” That is what just happened to me recently. I thought about someone that I had not spoken to in more than two years and that very same night he sent me a message.
The fact is that it’s not really all that creepy. It’s what ALWAYS happens - but not only with people, with everything. What you think of appears in your life. What happens is that your thoughts generate an energy that is sent out into the universe and that energy always receives a response that's matched by an equal energy. ALWAYS.
What you focus on grows. When you focus on how terrible the market is, you receive outcomes that match that thinking. When you concentrate on how all buyers are tire kickers, all of the sudden every tire kicker on the earth finds you. When you focus on falling prices, you see sellers who are frustrated with you because they don’t like to sell for less. At the same time, when you concentrate on how good life is, you feel all the wonderful things life has to show you. And the most amazing part of all of this is that you get to choose.
Freedom of choice - what an amazing idea. People often associate freedom with the elimination of any and all laws or societal restrictions. The truth is that choice has nothing to do with society - and every thing to do with your thoughts. Think about it.
Here is one good example: when you're driving down the road and someone cuts you off you can think “That *#@%&*! What an awful driver. Why does this always happen to me?” Or you can think “Wow, that guy is in a rush. I wonder if he has an emergency he needs to deal with. I'll help him by staying out of his way.” Both ideas are options … which one feels better? Choosing thoughts that feel great is the best in freedom of choice, no matter what the circumstances.
Victor Frankl, a psychologist and Holocaust survivor, wrote a book called “Man’s Search for Meaning.” He described his experience at Auschwitz, a concentration camp in Germany. He wrote regarding the dreadful crimes which he saw and the brutality of the treatment of the prisoners in the camp. He wrote about the gas chambers and the cruel assassinations he witnessed personally. He also wrote that those people who survived were able to find some kind of meaning amidst the torture. They were able to remain alive grounded in the belief that they had good reasons to go on living. He talked about having choice of thought, even under the most horrendous of circumstances.
So you can select your thoughts. Choose those that serve you and create an energy that draws to you what you really, really desire. Always keep those thoughts firmly stuck in your mind’s eye and focus on them. Your success is no coincidence. It’s a function of your thoughts.
