Chic NaengMyun

This afternoon the temperature in New York was 96 degrees and rising. As usual when it becomes so hot, we don't even bother to try to cook in our tiny non-A/C equipped kitchen. In fact we thought it best to avoid any heat whatsoever and try to seek relief through NaengMyun (Cold Noodles).
Thus we were were inspired to take a trip out to Flushing and pay a visit to our favorite NaengMyun joint, YouChon NaengMyun (156-03 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY 11354). While many places in NYC serve NaengMyun, YouChon is amongst the best. Plus they serve a variation known "Chic NaengMyun" which are noodles made with arrowroot rather than the more typical buckwheat.
The heatwave is supposed to last for another 3 days, so if you want to seek a tasty way to cool yourself down, do yourself a favor and check out your local Korean restaurant and order some NaengMyun. Be sure to order the "Mul NaengMyun" (Noodles served with a cold, even perhaps icy vinegary broth.
