Summertime Styling Tips for Women

Summertime Styling Tips for Women

Last week, Matt introduced smart summertime styling tips for men—today I am going to introduce a little guidance to help women put together no-sweat outfits in these scorching summer days.

#1. Loose, Oversized Shirts
While tank tops and spaghetti straps are perfectly appealing choices for casual occasions, they can be frowned upon at work. If you are looking for wearable tops that are appropriate for the office, consider picking up a light, oversized button-down shirt that keeps you cool white looking good. Remember, white is the new black this season—long, loose-flowing white tunic shirts were spotted all over the runways. For extra comfort, wear a white tunic blouse paired with leggings in blacks or grays. Match with lightweight trousers for a day at the office, or with loose bottoms like denims or wide shorts for causal outings. Don’t forget to accent your look with accessories—match an oversized bangle or a cuff to achieve a chic look.

#2. Little Black Dress
We all agree that the little black dress is an all-year-round wardrobe staple, but can it be worn to different functions? The answer is yes! For the office, pull off an elegant, professional look by choosing simple designs in silk/satin blends matched with a strand of pearls. Check to see if the length is appropriate for business and stylish enough for the evening—refrain from wearing too mini styles; an inch or two above the knee is desirable for the office. For a night out with friends, opt for cute, sexy styles like halters, tube tops, or off the shoulders with beaded and embroidered touches for added glam factor. Don’t forget to match statement-making heels to give your look a stylish update! Lastly, light, chiffon LBDs matched with a banded straw hat and a pair of gladiators embellished with beads is a perfect choice for a weekend trip to the beach. When choosing the right LBD for you, remember to consider factors that flatter your shape. To flaunt your hourglass shape, choose the one with waist details, or go for sleeveless or strapless designs to show off great shoulders and arms.

#3. Layer Up
Layering in the summer can be tricky. Before you head out the door, don’t forget to throw lightweight summer sweaters or cardigans in your bags to combat that overzealous air conditioning. If you are not a big fan of long sleeves, vests can be a great layering option. To add a splash of character to dull outfits, match a denim vest over sundresses or use as a bikini-cover up.
