sweet nothings...

strange plants I found in the botanics...

I went back to the botanical gardens again today, this time exploring the little hidden tracks and paths for the first time, away from the main route. I found some strange plants i've never seen before.
I liked the shape of the pod things on this one, not sure what the plant is though!

I thought this one looked like a cross between a corncob, a pomegranite and a strawberry!
I found several of them lying on the ground attached to a wilted plant, don't have a clue what it is!

They're cool! Haven't seen them either. They look yummy, but maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to eat them.

First one is Cardiocrinum giganteum (the flowers are equally impressive... Multi headed triphids!). The other seed head is of an Arisaema, although I'm not sure which one, flowers like an arum lily but much more showy and unusual.
One of my favourite seed heads is the Magnolia dealbata (I think) near the view point, almost a large and eyebally as the Arisaema. Large porceline-like flowers smell so sweat on a heady summers night.
Great blog. Keep it up.

ALIEN plants. Test their DNA. I bet you find more chromosomes than you find in Earth-derived organisms...the cheek of the Government - placing Alien life where we won't think to look too hard!

hmm, cadiocrinum giganteum and arisaema or disguised alien lifeforms...could be either! :right: They certainly look like something is about to hatch out of them!! :eyes:

Are you sure the second one is not an Arum Italicum, Lerx?
