Love Song, self-cover: liner notes

Inspired by the album “Love Song,” by Key+riya, which is released in 2005, I drew these pictures.

The Hill Where Everything Began – hajimari no saka
Firstly, I tried to draw a girl stooping to touch and pick the flowers, but, that’s too difficult for me, so I gave up. Then I thought up the hill from “Saikano”; maybe it’s good to get the feeling of awaiting some beloved one, so I sketched out the original version of this draw smoothly. In my draw, there is something which is kind of like “Ah, he comes at last!” during watching the time.

Indigo Dreams – ao no yume
I wanted to make out a storm scene, but I failed. How can I talk about storms? There even is sunshine! Did I fail here? Well, at least the draw isn’t so bad, I suppose. In this song, ‘I’ am taking a long travel, for catching up with ‘you.’ Deriving from this topic, I drew this one with the central message of that ‘you’ are looking downward at ‘me,’ the person ‘you’ like, whose shadow is becoming smaller and smaller, in the endless and indigo sky.

The Stone Which Becomes A Star – hoshi naru ishi
Originally, I was thinking about such a scene: ‘you’ are sitting in a café, and seeing over the window, toward somewhere distant but spraying lights out. However, why did my draft become the current version even without my attention (・・;)? Maybe my draw is the end of this story. ‘You’ dug the stone out, and ‘I’ walked close to ‘you.’ Then, the stone floated up with much of light, together with our dreams, became a star in the high sky.

Running – hashiru
This song is my favorite. ♪♪~ But there’s something very weird: there’s not anyone is running in both the original booklet and my draw!? But, but, in my case, the leaves on the background ARE dancing and running! As well as her hair! Maybe I wanted to express that everything is dancing with the wind here. You see, the tempos of scampering wind and running people have the same (really?).

Hundreds of Summers – hyakunen no natsu
This song is kind of like an image song for “Air”! It’s a beautiful song. But since its tempo is a bit slow, I spent much longer time on designing my draw. Then I noticed “sunflower” in the lyrics. Oh, yes! It’s the sunflower! Thus I drew this picture. And I believe this picture can match the song well.

Our Love – bokura no koi
I love this song, love the piano, and love the sound of sea. To match the song’s ambience, I chose a picture of sea as the background. By the way, I made the horizon line inclined, which means ‘our’ unachievable love; even ‘I’ still can’t to love someone, ‘I’ came to fall in love with ‘you,’ kind of heaviness of that. So, no matter how long time goes away, ‘I’ will never forget your smile when we were together, drawing our sea.

Gray Feathers – haiiro no hane
There’s one song of “Air,” and now it turns to “Haibane Renmei”? Anyhow, I don’t like this song very much. Maybe that’s because the melody is too quiet? But thus my pencil went more freely here. Regardless of my own favor to this song, I couldn’t miss the chance to be forced to adding a pair of gray wings. I also got a “colder” picture for its background. I myself also feel cold when I look at this draw…

Gramophone – guramofon
This was the first time I heard such a gentle song (really!). By the way, the song reminds me about “Kino’s Travel,” but why… a sad story flows out from the song. On that of design, I got her hand stretched out with gentleness, as if she’s touching something. That must be her beloved gramophone. And this scene in the twilight must have been their last memory.

Myth – shinwa
I don’t have much fond of this song, but I love the lyrics! Because it’s a song about a myth, I used the gothic style on the clothing. Yet it’s kind of simple gothic style… so, I chose a splendid cosmic picture as the background. Moreover, her calm face, white arms, and a small planet… they are all the girl’s myth, an endless story which has been the myth.

Ice Clock – koori tokei
The tempo and lyrics are good! I like this song. But, I think, there may be only one point in my draw can be linked to the song’s ambience. (・_・;) That’s the ice clock that is floating in the air (ok, here I confess that it was Photoshop drew the clock for me). Of course, I have to get a winter picture as the background, but this background gets me to think up “KANON”… (though “KANON” is also one of Key’s works…)

Unbreakable Wings – orenai tsubasa
The melody isn’t anywhere good, but the arrangement of percussion instruments is very excellent! I also like my draw for this song! However, there’s only one pity: I think my draw isn’t linked tightly to the original song… In fact, I attempted to get something on the like storm or universe, but, the one I completed has such a brilliant sky! Ahaha…

Then the Story Ends – soshite monogatari ga owaru
The melody isn’t my favorite type… but I do love the lyrics. Especially the part I’ve embedded into the picture, as well as riya’s repeated part: “aishita, aishita, aishita…” Also, this was my first trying on drawing the lateral side, so I’ve paid enough attention. Well, why in Miko’s style? It’s my own fondness, don’t mind. About the background, I wanted to match the slow melody, so I chose this one with the shinning twilight. How about it?

Love Song
A song that is like the first song, I love it! ♪♪~ If you ask for why I drew an umbrella? I think, it’s maybe because the harmonizing of an electronic-piano (or no?) on the background sounds like the rain. Since I’ve made her to hold an umbrella, I’ve got to choose a background picture includes rain or something like that. Eventually, I got this hydrangea one. But, yet I think the hydrangea is a bit unmatched for her clothes… kind of unseasonableness…

The idea to draw for the album “Love Song” began from July in the last year. That time, I was very busy on many issues, so I just scratched out some drafts and never got them into real digital pictures. However, that is very fortunate for me. After the first drafts, I also did much re-drawing. Well, I see, about times at least. Not only about characters’ poses, but also that to cast them for the 13 songs; that was really not easy. The one I changed for most times is “indigo dreams (ao no yume).” Besides, I also concerned a little about my own story when I did the casting. However, I may not say more about my own stuff here.
Since finally, I finished my “Love Song,” eventually, I completed my “Love Song.” Cheer up, cheer up. ♪♪~

Love Song

Wow! It’s Mozart!

,

before reading my post, try them!
III - Sequenz - 6 - Lacrimosa from Requiem in d Minor by W. A. Mozart
(Eirei Chinkon) by Kenji Kawai
La Sola by Kenji Kawai

Although I love Mozart’s music very much, I don’t hear enough his music yet, which including his famous Requiem in d Minor. So I thought a bit shameful about it, I got the CD yesterday. ♪♪~

This work is one of the few-not-so-happy works from all Mozart’s works. But, but, he’s a wonderful musician! Even only a little, I found his sweet-element from this requiem…

Then, track No. 8 is titled “III - Sequenz - 6 - Lacrimosa.” At first, I didn’t listen to it while reading the titles; but here when it turned to this track, something like “what? A deja-vu?” burst into my mind. Hence, I started to repeat this track. Later, about 3 times of listening to it, I went into the status full with strong emotion toward the famous musician, as well as Kenji Kawai.

What? Why Kenji Kawai? As we know, he is the musician who composed for the animation “Fate/Stay Night.” Talk regardless of his music style, I especially love his way of arrangement. One example is “Fate,” and another is the series of “Higurashi.” The first time when I listened to “Fate,” I paid more attention on these two tracks: “Eirei Chinkon (requiem for the great)” and “La Sola.” I’ve ever listened to only the two for many and many times, with murmuring “how these are marvelous.”

However, I think I’ve felt a little sorry after I listened to Mozart’s Requiem: “Eirei Chinkon” can be seen as a rearrangement of “III - Sequenz - 6 – Lacrimosa!” Why didn’t I know it before? Also, why isn’t there anything about Mozart’s Requiem on the booklet of “Fate”? Ok, I see, at least it was Kenji Kawai did the rearrangement work, so… or, is this only one tiny secret for us listeners from “Fate”?

Ok, ok, no matter what it is. At least, I dug it out yesterday! ♪♪~

Big Bangs After A Dull Span

, ,

One benefit of blogging is that you can share your own news, ideas, feelings… etc. with others at the very time; reading others’ blogs is definitely enough good either, especially when they are whom you admire.

On November 19 and 20, two big bangs burst out from Yuki Kajiura’s blog. On December 24, 2008, Xmas Eve, Kalafina’s new single CD, “fairytale,” will be released! On February 25, 2009, a new FictionJunction album will be released, pluses with many new tracks! Project FJ~~~ How fascinating they are! Kalafina, YUUKA, KEIKO, KAORI, ASUKA, WAKANA, YURIKO KAIDA… the new FJ album must be a good selection for all new comers of FictionJunction, or also a good belated birthday present for me! (oops! I’ve to pay for it, don’t I?)

The past two months were rather dull to me, but not to people who went to Yuki’s lives. The most recent album of Yuki was an original soundtrack, “Achilles and the Turtle.” Not bad, but I prefer to soundtracks from “Kara no Kyokai, Garden of Sinner.” And the two bangs blasted onto me, I was recharged up to full energy!

Talk about my goddess now. Although I have the experience of singing at a chorus, I never have any ideas how many chorus tracks a song uses. In Yuki’s recent posts, one her coworkers, Mrs./Mr. K, tried to suggest composing a song without any chorus track. Guess what did Yuki say? “No, ‘cos I’ve accustomed to use enough chorus tracks.”

Interesting, huh? In that post, Yuki confessed that there are often more than 50 tracks of chorus in a song; in case of Kalafina-songs, the number usually increases to 60-80 (or more, I can’t remember very clearly). Sure, chorus-free songs, like FJY’s “June is your eternity, from ‘circus’” exist, but they’re few. There’re more songs include so many chorus tracks that no one can’t lose in counting. Maybe songs like “Together, ‘destination’” have only a few such tracks, Heaven knows!

Merlin's Magic

,

Merlin’s Magic, a band’s name which I came to know in 2003, by a CD that has the name “The Spirit of Aquarius,” is the only current New Age artist I’m paying attention to.
I ever tried many New Age CDs, but eventually I discard them from my music library. I just can’t be patient to hear most New Age music, because it seems that I intend to be defocused by these calm and peaceful tones. The more I hear New Age, the stronger my feeling become. However, for I’d like to cumulate some knowledge relates astrology, the Zodiac Series CDs caught my sight one day; I took the CD of my sign, and fell in love with the music at the first time.
However, after some-year’s silence of forgetting the CD, I dug it again in this August. I tried to contact with my friends whose sign is Gemini – she bought her sign’s CD with me, and heard Gemini’s piece.
Beautiful – simple but ingenuous my feeling was. Later I tried to collect all the series and tried to find more information about the artist: Merlin’s Magic. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find more about the band even on WIKI.org. However, I did get many Merlin’s Magic’s works.
That’s not only New Age, but the healing melodies of stars, the heave, the air, zephyrs, streams, and lives. In Merlin’s Magic, there’re dulcet notes of the dapper-combined instruments, and you can catch the most beautiful sight of spirit, of meditation, and of tranquility.
That’s the healing magic of music, the only New Age in my heart.

Love in the Rain

, , ,

Today is a day with rain and tiny coldness. I fetched this CD accidentally.
That was “noir WHITE IN BLACK Vocal Song Collection.”
Thus, I heard See-Saw’s “love.”
It’s so long since last time I listened to See-Saw…
“love” is in my top 5 of See-Saw. I just like it no matter how much times I hear it.
And especially in such a rainy day; I get the song with more affection.
With the melody, early autumn rain rises in mind. Fine and coldly, gradually, vision becomes vague, and fade into pale…you chill even with hands bracing the arms…the back yard where nobody is…just few people in the street, cars pass away rapidly, with water splashes up…the air is very clear, and…also, memories turn to clear…
…it seemed that I used to listened “love” in rainy days. Well, there is another song, “Emu.Moa.” It is also fit with rain, though in its case, the ambience is shift to a gloom bar: the dim light, the bright crimson wine, the goblet which reflects the mild light, coldly, and “Emu.Moa” with melancholy violin…
Is it the best heaven of rain songs?
It not because the habit of attaching ambiance to any piece of melody, I, however, just enjoy doing it.
And I’m very entranced with it.

See-Saw
