Extraterrestrial Radio Telescopes

No I am not talking about radio astronomy conducted by aliens (though that would be kinda cool). I am instead proposing the construction of radio telescopes off of Earth.

Definition of Swage

I am going to attempt to create a new definition of "swage"

Swage:A cooler way of saying "sweet", espesially in reference to the Opera Browser.

The provence of Atlantia - First Draft

,

Even with modern transport and communications technology Canada still need local provincial level governments. However, we do not need 13 Provence. Canada's Atlantic provinces exist only due to their original colonial boundaries. Prince Edward Island only has 5,660 km² of territory when compared with Alberta's 661,848 km². I hereby propose that the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island be combined into one province. This new province would (assuming that the boundary with Quebec remained the same) have a total territory of 133,851 km². Seeing as this province would need a name I will use Atlantia since this will combine 3 out of 5 of the provinces bordering the Atlantic Ocean.

Section 1: Why combine provinces

There are many reasons why these three provinces should be combined.

  1. More equal distribution of wealth
  2. Improved Standardisation of Service

Section 2: Wealth distribution
Currently all provincial tax is Atlantia is divided among three separate provinces. With a combined province total tax revenue will remain roughly the same (assuming that the tax rate remains basically unchanged, even though some change will be needed as there are differences between New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI) but this revenue will no long be divided into three separate governments. Instead this revenue will be able to be more effectively used on government services. If the province of Atlantia receives transfer payments the money will be more effectively used under the same principle.

Section 3: Standardisation of Service
Although education and drivers licenses are already compatible between Canadian provinces there are still minor discrepancies. In a geographically large province where the majority of the population spend most of there time withing the provincial boundaries this is not a problem. However, with improved transportation comes increased migration and a region with a number of small provinces has a higher chance of interprovinal migration than a region with large ones. The combination of these provinces will create a situation of common laws and regulations.

Another side effect comes from the improved wealth distribution (see section 2). With more effective use of local wealth comes the opportunity for increased quality of service as well as standardisation.

This is only a first draft. Feel free to add your comments on it and how it can be improved.
