My Opera Trubo Xp

In basics this is just a copy of my entry in the "Submit your own experience" contest cleaned up.

When I first installed the Opera 10 alpha I was amazed at the speed at which is loaded pages. Opera 9 is fast but 10 made it seem even faster!!!!!!!

Then I found that there was a "opera turbo" feature so I tried it. BANG never going back! My connection crashes every evening (probably due to overload) and can be slower than slow dial-up (I am using a satellite link). With Opera Turbo I can still browse even under these adverse conditions!!!!! I now run Opera 10 on my living room computer just so I can use Turbo.

The only complaint I have is that some websites such as Facebook and Tribal Wars don't work properly. I understand why and don't think it can be fixed. It would be nice if you could add a filter so that it automatically didn't use turbo for certain sites. Beyond that I love it. I am using it right now, tonight is the worse its been in awhile. It is claiming only x3 compression and the images look great!

Keep up the good work Opera ASA!

MEDIA:
When I found out about the contest I was looking for handheld radios. The Yaesu FT-60R looks like a great rig... alas I don't have $245 to spare right now cry.

I also created a presentation in OpenOffice. I would have uploaded as a video but I can't, and the export as swf option dosn't include auto timing and sounds.

Note: Once you play on the first slide just leave it and it will play with the timings I intended.

Microsoft Error Reporting states the obviouse

,

Yesterday I had some trouble wiht Opera. It kept crashing for no reason... now since I am a regular Weekly Tester I realise that problems like this are to be expected. But it only did that yesterday. My machine is also acting up, suffereing from slow stalls, so I decided to see if the Microsoft Error Reporting would help well here is a sceenshot of what I gave me.

Well duh I already know it was Opera that was "causing" the problem, it was what kept crashing. Who dosn't know that Opera is made by Opera Software ASA?

I was tempted to say "no tyhis wasn't helpful" but decided that "All you did was state the obvious" wouldn't help.

Spammers

,

As you probably know Opera is being plagued by spammers. There have been a lot of bogus accounts for spamming but these have been almost eliminated. However, I am going to have disable anonymous posts in blog. If the spam problem goes away I might allow them again.

Wow Opera 9.00 Build 8212

I have been rather sick over the last week so I didn't download 8212 when it came out but I have it now. It is basically like the last build but it fixes some of the spoofing problems. Specifially it can be set to automatically spoof in a certain way when you go to a specific site. It will also "mask" instead of "identify" as a specific browser. When I saw that I wanted to know what that meant so I used the HTTP Request Viewer at Delorie Web. I tried every spoofing option and found that "mask" is the same as "identify" only without adding the current version to the end of the string. Unfortunetly you can only "mask" option on specific sites (you have to do it one site at a time) but it does get around sites that detect the "Opera" that is added to the end of any string with the "indentify" option without using UserJS.

I just won a t-shirt

, , , ...

Ok so I actually won it a couple of days ago but I wasn't online yesterday when it was announced. I am the first winner of the "Answer a Question, Win a Shirt" contest. I am treating it as Opera's christmas present to me. Will post more tommorow.
