Firenze '08

, , , ...

Long time no see... My computer problem and lack of time because of school and all those tests made impossible to write posts and stuff... But if I wasn't able to write that doesn't mean that nothing happened  So, if you checked my gallery recently (last 2 dayz) you've probably seen that I uploaded picz from school trip to Firenze (or Florence, Florentia and Fiorenza...).
It was awesome if we despite extremely shitty weather :D We were there to see gazillion number of churches and all this roman, goth, renaissance art... Dude, things are too crowded to pick one and decide which is THE one :D
If I could gather all cameras which were on Palazzo Vecchio when we were there with one huge magnet... :D I would have more cameras than Canon makes them in a week :D
Ok, enough of bs, let pictures do the talking

You don't wanna get shot by this

photo gun
What you see up here is one of the meanest accessory for slr cameras ever. With a look of a sniper rifle it's giving the phrase “shooting some pictures” a real meaning. Now you can call your portraits headshots for a reason! :D
Upper one is from Leica, and lower one from Nikon.

Both "guns" hold 400mm lenses. If you would like one check Tamarkin.com

Masterpieces of Nikkor lenses

lens_hero_shot.jpg

Jap, I'm Nikon user P: And, here I made a list (kinda wishlist) of my favorite Nikon (Nikkor) lenses  Unfortunately, i don't have any of those... yet :frown:

af-nikkor-85mm-f-14d-if_front.jpg
Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D

af-s-vr-micro-nikkor-105mm-f-28g-if-ed_front.jpg
Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G VR
My personally favorite lenses (both 85 and 105) P: I prefer telephoto lenses and macro as well, because I really like all the details.

af-s-vr-zoom-nikkor-70-200mm-f-28g-if-ed_front.jpg
Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR
70-200mm f/2.8 VR is one of the two lenses used by most professional photographers every day. It's Nikon's latest professional workhorse lens. It has all appropriate specifications as you would expect :D

af-s-nikkor-14-24mm-f-28g-ed.jpg
Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED
The second of those most commonly used lenses by professional photographers is this wide 14-24mm f/2.8. Wicked colours, sharp as hell and no other defects.

2000mmreflexside.jpg
Reflex-Nikkor 2000mm f/11
The biggest telephoto lens I've ever seen. I's huge :D

nikkor6mmf28.jpg
Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 Fisheye
And the widest lens I've ever seen :D (it captures 220° :D )

I didn't know, did you? Apple QuickTake

, ,

I was amazed when I discovered that Apple released one of the first digital cameras. 8O It was called QuickTake and it was released in year 1994. When I hear this kind of stuff, i think something like: "Wooow, they were really beforehand time!!"
Just remember what was it like with Newton. ~They made a PDA in time when no one was even dreaming about portable computers and touchscreens...
Apple QuickTake

Their goal was to make "easy-to-use" digital camera which can easily be synced with apple (and later m$ windoz) computer. You were able to edit picture with some kind of pre-iPhoto program. Earlier models (100, 150) were made in cooperation with Kodak, but QT 200 was made with Fuji. You can imagine that it wasn't really successful... people prefered cameras from companies which associated with photography

Here are specifications of all versions of QuickTake

More colourful

, ,

If you are occupied with photography, you have probably found yourself in situation like this:
One day I went out to take some pictures. It was wintry day. And somehow you wanted to take a snap of panorama. Everything was foggy and colors were greyish and full of blue haze... Grrrrrrr

The same thing happened to me today, so I decided to make a little tuturial how to make pictures more vivid P:
Notice: In this post I intentionally exaggerated with making pics (too) contrasty and colorful. And I do not guarantee improving of your photographic skills by obeying this tutorial :D
True photograph depends and on the photographer and the camera after all

Overlay
Duplicate the layer -> set the blending mode of upper layer to overlay -> adjust layer opacity to 50%

Curves
Open Curves [Ctrl + M] and try to find perfect result. I suggest something like that.

~

B&W
Open Gradient map (Image -> Adjustments -> Gradient Map) and set gradient from black on left to white on right.

~

Levels (this is probably best and inelegant way to do it)
Open Levels [Ctrl + L] and calibrate adjust each color channel individually. Move both sliders so that you omit low endings on each side. Something like this.

So, I hope that you'll find it useful P:
