Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10
Finally Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon has been released and I got a CD from my friend.
Updated Kernel and KDE 3.5.8 make it look cool. Dolphin has replaced Konqueror but only as a File Manager, Konqueror is still the default Web Browser. As a File Manager Dolphin manage to get more score than Konqueror coz it has only basic File Management action so it loads faster than Konqueror. The split view of Dolphin make it easy to compare two folders or to quickly browse two locations. Open Office 2.3 adds little more stability and functionality.
Even on slower PCs Gutsy Gibbon loads faster than Feisty Fawn. Applications too loads faster than Feisty, no long time bumping icon and no long waiting for an item to load.
Adding restricted codecs to media players has been made more easy. Update took less time but as per new release servers are somewhat congested. Eye candy and Stability of KDE 3.5.8 is superb.
Gutsy make it more easy to migrate from Windows to Linux. Overall performance is superb and if you encounter any problem there is a vast community to help fix that.

ubuntu, computers.tech, kubuntu, linux
When i bought my PC, it came with Windows XP Home pre-installed and i was charged Rs. 6000 extra for that. That time was a newbie for Windows too.
I started with Windows and learnt many things. Then one day my cousin gave me some Tech Magazines. One of them got some topics about Linux OS, i was much astonished that its totally free to use and distribute.
So I thought that I must use it. But the problem was to get an installation CD.
I asked many vendors and Computer Shops but they were unable to provide with me one.
Luckily one of my friend got a DVD of Fedora Linux iso images. He sent me that DVD and after burning 5 CDs I managed to install fedora on my system.
But unfortunately all my data was lost including my Music and Movie collection. I was much depressed at that time. Fedora was unable to play any media file except OGG vorbis, which annoyed me more. And it was pretty difficult for me to update it and install codecs to play my desired formats as I had only one connectivity solution and that was my Mobile GPRS connection. So I again formatted my hdd but I the KDE look touched my heart. Then I tried Open SuSE 10.2 which I got in a DVD with PC World magazine.
It was able to play mp3s but It didn’t supported my integrated VIA Unichrome Pro IGP gfx adapter. So I left it soon.
Then came the Ubuntu distro, it was pretty like a movie when I got this. I was traveling in a train. I found a blank Ubuntu Cd cover near my seat. After returning to home I searched about it on Google and found the free ShipIt Ubuntu service which ship the Ubuntu Cds free of cost. I requested a Cd and it was the Ubuntu Edgy Eft CD, I installed it and updated it with my mobile GPRS. I was able to play mp3 and mpeg after installing Restricted Packages. But the Gnome Environment which came default with it was unable to satisfy me.
So I moved to Kubuntu and this time I requested a AMD 64 edition of Kubuntu Feisty Fawn. I was much much touched with its interface and ease of installation. So I installed it stand alone and removed Windows from my PC.
Till then I’m using it and very satisfied. I have installed all essential Packages and I might say one thing that Kubuntu is much superior, easier and eye touching than all other distros. And its much much superior to Windows.
Thanks
