Velkommen store, velkommen små, velkommen alle som banker på

Greetings from Oslo

,

6 days packed with Oslo and Opera!

Last year Adam from Opera visited us in our little hometown Ahnsbeck, even twice (second time even his wife Else would come with him). Now we decided it's time to visit them, too. The decision was much easier since Markus, a very good friend of mine, found extra cheap flights from Bremen to Torp. So we started last Wednesday and returned yesterday. In between we had lots of fun in Oslo.

Guess what, Adam made it possible so I was allowed to join Opera staff for their famous Friday Beer (aka beer o'clock) where I met Jonathan Hicks and many more of the kind people of Opera. I even managed to shake hands with Jon when we met in the corridor! Last Friday was a dream come true. Being an Opera fan since 2000 it was so great to see e.g. Borg, olli, csant, huibk, Haavard, ApocalypticDesire, NoteMe, mitchman2 and more of the other great guys of the desktop team and other departments like e.g. the very EspenAO from my.opera.com who actually helped me open a bottle of beer with a big knife cheers

We also took three days to watch around Oslo with our tour guide Adam. We saw downtown Oslo, went up the hill to Holmenkollen (where the tram driver locked himself out of the train, then tried to break in -- something that reminded me of a guy outside a ship nearby the new Oslo Opera building) and down to the museums. I can only recommend a trip to Oslo. Might be a bit easier once they finished all that cunstruction work around the town. Whenever that may be ... whistle On Saturday Adam invited some people from Opera over to his appartment where we fed everybody with german rocket fuel from our hometown called Ratzeputz. The motto was: Kill the germans with beer. We survived very long (a bit longer than one guy from Opera) before I slightly faded away. I remember some people dancing the the funky chicken, though bigsmile

On Sunday we got our first elk roast ever, Else made us several luxury meals and breakfasts but this was the most exciting one and I really enjoyed it -- like the full stay in their homely apartment. In the evening we were allowed to attend the biggest smex event ever where we saw the new James Bond in one of Oslos cinemas, the colosseum, a very nice and big one -- the screen even managed to be slightly bigger than the big TV Adam has at home p

Besides the previews in this post there are several more photos in this album.
