You can call me Beer Maxx

, , , ...

On Friday we had a nice Party and I received a beer dispenser suitable for beer kegs with 5 litres which are quite common here. I like how it's called Beer Maxx. Funny how people know that beer and Moods (small cigars) are what makes me really happy (besides my girls who are much more important of course).

I also managed to buy beer bottles with the signs on them. There have not been enough "Lions", though

In the morning my girls surprised me with breakfast in nature. They blindfolded me and drove me to a nice lake where they prepared everything. That was fun!

Yesterday we spent a nice lazy day in the garden, enjoyed the ducks and started a camp fire in the evening.

I prepared some baked potatoes in the fire but managed to burn one. See how it finally had the shape of a heart. Of course Olga and I ate the parts that were still eatable.

German Birthday Traditions

, ,

On Saturday we celebrated the 30th birthday of Olgas friend Tina. She had to clean the following "door" during the party:

To explain this a bit: When somebody turns 30 around here and is not married he/she has to perform a certain ritual on a public place, usually in front of the town hall. If it's a man he has to sweep while his friends offer him drinks and their kids do all they can to undo whatever he managed to sweep already. Usually he is disguised aswell. He has to continue until a 'virgin' kisses him free.

A woman that turns 30 has to polish door knobs. Earlier she had to go around and polish real knobs, today there is a special door with many knobs. She also has to polish and drink until a male virgin kisses her free. Olgas friend is a bit shy, so we allowed her to polish the door knobs right on her party. She was masqueraded as an Indian girl while she did her polishing job. Guess how many male virgins there suddenly were around

The party was big fun, both Olga and her friend needed one and a half day to fully recover.

Are there similar traditions in other countries?

Alessas Birthday

, ,

My daughter Alessa celebrates her 6th birthday today. :smurf: :wizard:

You know, that this is a day to celebrate. However it's also a day to think about what life has brought so far. Everything's fine except one thing: Alessa is not even my elder daughter and Sofie will soon be 8. Time to face it, I'm really getting old ... :left: :D

I'll use this entry to post two more pics from the weekend:

1. This is how the sky in front of my office looked last friday.

2. This is how Celle looked like yesterday when we left the castle theater. I like the xmas lights all around, they give a nice atmosphere (talking about gemütlichkeit  ).
