Opera 10 and New Skin
Tuesday, 1. September 2009, 17:45:00
Today Opera Software unveiled Opera 10 with Turbo final and it's great!

Besides many many crash fixes, bug fixes, 'never stop loading' fixes it also sports a totally new look by Jon Hicks, which was needed and is done superb to give Opera a fresh and unique look in both the standard and the platform native skins. Also there is a brand new application icon that fits much better into the Mac OS X dock.
In order to celebrate the release I have modified my Mac Native skin to include as much of the new Opera look but most visibly changes the page bar that IMHO is a tad too dark on Mac and has tabs that need too much space. It also changes the following toolbar backgrounds: Mail Header, Panel Header, Chat Toolbar and Incomplete Message. As usual it comes in two flavors (just click the links to download and install):
- Mac Native Skin Rad: http://www.demuths.de/iopera/files/skins/test/mac_skin_rad.zip
- This one works with the default Opera toolbar setup but you can also use my modified one: http://www.demuths.de/iopera/files/toolbars/iOperad_Native.ini
Preview:

The second setup is my personal one that changes even more in that it glues back/forward and fastforward together and brings the tab close button to the right side of the tabs. This one will however not work with the Opera Standard toolbar set-ups since the address bar will then look weird, so I suggest you try it with the matching toolbar set-up and re-work that in case you like the skin.
- Mac Native Skin Rad S4: http://www.demuths.de/iopera/files/skins/test/mac_skin_rads4.zip
- Matching Toolbar set-up: http://www.demuths.de/iopera/files/toolbars/iOperad.ini
Preview:

Note: Currently both skins will look unoptimal when Panel Icons are not placed to the top and when the tab bar is unfolded to use tab previews. This is simply because I don't care about those states, I guess it could be fixed, though.
And now go and celebrate Opera 10 and spread the news!
