My Opera is closing 3rd of March

She possesses intriguity

I met her for the first time about a year ago. It was a lovely morning with light breezes and soft sunlight pouring down upon eager students preparing for their first year at university. A lot of them were trotting around carrying huge-looking bags or some photocopied books in their hands. Block C was the best place to hold any kind of class meeting for it was the newest built and most appealing and also largest of all. Though not a class, the English Club of the university also opted for this place as the 'conference site'. The scheduled time was 8:30, but since I was too hot under the collar that the sound of the watch striking 8:00 coincided with my footsteps echoing within the area.

Since nobody had turned up, I had kill the time by taking a circular tour of my school. It is no magnificent university. In fact, I can stick my neck out and claim anyone on their first visit to this place will be taken aback by the hideous structure and the distressing dirtiness as well as an awful lack of 'green plants'. I am at a loss to figure the out why a university should be constructed with such a design. Most blocks are down-running and the rooms in each block do not seem to make for quality teaching and learning. To make matter worse, this place never appears to receive enough hygienic care. Walking along the main entrance, you can easily spot pieces of litter scattered all over the road surface and will have no difficulty making out the sight of a huge stinking rubbish dump set at the junction leading to the parking lot and the main offices of many departments. The last downside of the building is its environmental unfriendliness. The campus is hopelessly too tiny to accommodate a satisfactory quantity of trees. This makes the place quite hot and the missing of shade prohibits students from enjoying themselves after out-wearing classes. Having done my 'sight-seeing' walking, I made my way back to where I departed.

Paradoxically, I arrived as the latest member. Everyone was sitting and the plan was being sketched by the ring-leader of EC at that time. But it was not the sheer sense of unpunctuality that overwhelmed me, but an unprecedented overpowering emotion. Her eyes and smile struck me strangely dumb. I remained in speechlessness for nearly 3 minutes before the cat finally released my tongue. I have recollection of how that meeting went on. The only impression was her. She truly stood out from my personal accumulated album of lovely striking ladies. I can never give anything a proper description to save my life, but in this case instinct tells me I should give it a try.

She has a nice body with average and build. Her round face possesses an excellent combination of sweet glass-covered eyes, a cute nose and a heart-melting smile. The way she smiles cut huge ice with me - her teeth were hardly ever revealed. She wears long hair and usually has jeans and T-shirt on. She converses with a soft voice whose name had never came up in my mind-based voice book. The fashion in which she stands and walks and sits and talks illustrates a personality of calm and confidence. The outward features had already made a name for themselves, let alone the inward.

How can I depict this character with my poor descriptive ability? As her calm appearance suggests, she does not show off for the smallest split second. As far as I know, this lady holds an immense sea of knowledge on numerous subjects ranging from maths, physics... to languages. I had reached such a conclusion ever since I witnessed her delivering a speech on the creation of the universe with 2 other friends. The way she gave the introduction and addressed the audience and raised questions and produced answers pointed to a perfect future public speaker. Also, when at work on EC meetings, she was normally the last speaker to voice her thought which never failed to yield a solution to all unsettled questions in planning. In class, she would take a seat in the middle rows. She was never seen actively involved in heated discussions, to which I still have no clue. But all in all, she is in a league of her own.

Now that we are sophomores, the body of work has discernibly mounted. But she was still willing to become the new president of the English Club. I had foreseen this all along. And now I am working as an effective assistant. Perhaps it is only EC that binds us together. We don't sit the same class. We don't share same background - different accents, places of birth, personalities and religions. We do not see much of it other every week. And for that, it goes without saying that I am still in the dark about her true character traits. But the odds are that we are on course to a more intimate relationship.

The recent days have seen certain turning points in our friendship. These changes are significant solely to my way of thinking as I have not the faintest idea what is really on her mind. First, the content of her SMS are more... thought-provoking. Second, the way she flings glances at me had never been expected before. Third, we felt really 'close' on our picnic with some foreigners about a week ago. These are rather abnormal, but whatever happens, I still take the view that I can never measure up.

As I have demonstrated above, she is too good for me. I rank top on the list. I always fly high in the academic arena. I make not bad a living as a tutor. I play several musical instruments quite fluently. I come across as a cute guy in others' eyes. I run head and shoulder over all others. But in my heart of hearts, she is the real best.

Time will reveal what the present is concealing. My philosophy for the time being reads: study like there's no tomorrow. Only with a well-based career can I establish a long-term relationship with 'my other half'. Perhaps, I am merely fantasizing about her recent behavior, but... the little glimmer of hope deserves a good lifetime. Who knows whether it will blaze up?
